Melissa Beth Designs: Feminine Bags That Haul It All

04/16/2009 at 09:00 AM ET

In a house full of boys it’s nice to have something that’s just for Mama. Dubbed by the company as “cute outfits for your stuff,” Melissa Beth Designs’ Baby-umptious diaper bag ($170) is a practical bag with pretty touches.

The Baby-umptious diaper bag comes fully equipped with a large, wipeable changing pad that stores in its own compartment, an adjustable shoulder strap and a set of adjustable straps that attach the bag to the stroller handles or convert it into a backpack. All the straps clip on easily with a spring-loaded clasp and metal d-rings. It works great in all configurations and can be easily changed on the go.

My bag is made from gray, stain-resistant fabric that looks like my favorite old tee shirt, but up close you’ll see it’s soft velour. The trim, the lining and the bottom of the bag are made from a cute, wipeable hot-pink paisley print. The front of the bag has a 3-D daisy made from the bag’s two fabrics and a large gem sewn in the center. It gives it a nice, feminine touch.

The flap has a long, zippered pocket I use for my wallet and each end has an elasticized pocket for bottles, sippy cups, or a water bottle. Inside you’ll find six mesh pockets for bottles, snacks and your mobile phone plus a zippered pouch I usually use to keep my own things separate from the kids’ stuff.

The roomy main compartment is fully lined with their cute paisley print and is also wipeable. It has a handle on top for snatching it up on the fly or clipping the top of the bag to the stroller.

We’re told that Keri Russell, Isla Fisher and Jenna Elfman all carry Melissa Beth bags, so I feel like I’m in pretty good company!

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
