Tori Spelling and Family Launch 'Mommywood'

Dean McDermott and children Liam Aaron, 2 and Stella Doreen, 10 months, help mom Tori Spelling celebrate the launch of her latest book, Mommywood, at Bond St. Beverly Hills on Wednesday. The actress, whose weight loss CBB readers have noticed, assures PEOPLE that she’s “not anorexic.”

“I acknowledge that I look thin in photos. I get it,” she says about the 40 lbs. she’s lost since delivering Stella last June. “Obviously I don’t want to lose any more weight, but people haven’t seen me not pregnant in two and a half years. I’m eating healthy, I just have a crazy lifestyle. I’m the first to admit that sometimes I don’t have the time to sit down for a well-balanced meal. Usually you kind of just finish whatever your child doesn’t eat. I’m like, ‘Cool, you have a few pieces of hot dog left and one broccoli floret and a fry, I’ll take it.’”

“I want to be a positive role-model for my daughter,” Tori continues. “The last thing I want to put out there is that it’s acceptable to be too thin or have an eating disorder because you’re in Hollywood. I have two kids that I need to be healthy for because they need their mom.”

That’s great that Tori is addressing the weight loss issue. I understand she has a busy life and this is the first time she hasn’t been pregnant in a while.

BUT she is still too thin. Period. She needs to make the time to eat if that is the real issue. She is right about her kids needing a healthy mom and she does not look healthy. She needs to make eating a priority. It’s important. She can afford to have meals packed and sent to her and have someone watch the kids while she eats them.

Your bones don’t start sticking out like that unless you live in a Third World country and you’re malnourished due to poverty… or unless you have an eating disorder. It’s a slap in the face to her fans to not just admit that. All of us mothers living a hectic life know that you don’t just get that skinny by nibbling off your kids’ plate. It’s by skipping meals, lots of meals and the definition of that is anorexia. I’m sure Tori loves her family very much, and I hope she gets the help that she needs.

She looks thin in photos because she is thin. And more than thin, she looks frail. I understand about being busy. I have 4 kids and travel 4 days a week and I have no nannies. A great husband but thats it. You can still find time to eat. I know that at dinner time I make 6 plates, 1 for each of us. Then I sit by my youngest(22 months) and help him learn how to master silverware..;). But by no means has my dinner ever consisted of a bite of hotdog, a broccoli floret and a french fry.

I hope she gains a little, because being underweight is just as bad as overweight.

My gosh people lay off her! I too lost a lot of weight after I had my second child. I eat, but chase my kids all day so it just stays off. She said she realizes she is thin, and it obviously is something she is working on.

Look back to before Tori was pregnant and she was exceptionally thin then. She was pregnant for 2 years straight and never actually lost the baby weight from Liam before getting pregnant with Stella. She has always been thin and doesn’t seem to be too thin if you look at her in the past.

The kids are beautiful and I think Tori is under a lot of pressure being in the business she is in to look good all the time, although looking good does not equate to being so skeletal, someone tell her that curvy women are the new trend, bones are not attractive and people who get that thin must definitely have eating disorders, denial and cover ups are all part of the disorder – get some meat on those bones please Tori, lots of people are worried about you.

I have never understood people who say they don’t have time to eat because they have kids. I have never had a problem with fitting in time to eat, I sit down and eat a meal WITH the kids.

Why can’t the whole family sit down and eat together. I think it’s important to teach kids that everyone in the family counts, and that Mom and Dad deserve to have their basic needs (like eating) met too.

I like Tori, I always have, but she does look way too thin. I think weight loss looks more severe on her than some people because of the breast implants and the fact that her facial features are quite pronounced. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I happen to think that Tori has beautiful eyes, but the combination of several factors probably makes her look skinnier at that weight than she might if she was another celebrity, for instance (if that makes sense). She looks lovely with a bit more weight on her, being skinny doesn’t suit Tori.

I saw a video of this. I heard Liam is wearing shades because of the flashes of the lights from the camera. I couldn’t believe how many flashes went off. If I was Tori and Dean I’d be concerned about my children’s eyes! I am sure it’s fine but that baby just kept blinking like a deer caught in headlights!! I don’t know why they’d take them to HER book signing anyways I don’t believe the children have to go to everything. And Tori talks alot about keeping certain things private with her family but she always seems to exploit them as well.

The children though are adorable and I don’t mind seein them but looking at a picture is not the same as a video and now when I see all these kids in photos like this I can’t help but think that when they aren’t smiling it’s probably they’re completely traumatized by the lights and people screaming at them!!!!

I love this family! It is obvious how much love they have for each other. I think everyone should take it easy on Tori. Have any of you seen 90210? She was always the thinnest cast member, and it was evident she was naturally thin. She has been pregnant almost back to back, so we are used to her looking a little heavier. I agree. I know plenty of mothers who have THREE or FOUR kids, jobs, and NO nannies yet find the time to eat. Yes, Tori is naturally thin but THIS isn’t her natural size. Add another 10lbs and she’s good.

I feel for the kids when parents bring them out on the carpets for paps pictures. It’s fine if you’re an adult and understand what’s going on but I’m sure it’s scary for little ones not to mention hurtful to their eyes.

After I had my 2nd baby I really worked hard to lose the weight and ended up losing 20 pounds past my pre-preg weight! It was like once my body got going….it didn’t know how to stop! It was something I had NEVER experienced before: Trying to STOP losing weight! It took awhile to find the balance of maintaining while still being a busy mom. I’ll bet that’s where she’s at. Cut her some slack!

Tori does look painfully thin! But I’m sure now that it’s been addressed she will make sure to correct it. She probably just didn’t realize how thin she looked/was getting because she has been so busy with everything going on plus taking care of two small children. I don’t believe that Tori intentionally got this skinny but it just kindof happened. Tori is at a work event. I have never seen a mother on here being criticized for not taking her children to a red carpet (or similar kind of work event). So you’re just speculating that people would be upset. I agree with those who think the children should have been left alone. It’s not always best to take children everywhere. I remember reading an interview with Shania Twain where she said she doesn’t always keep her son with her backstage, because she doesn’t feel it’s a stimulating enough environment for a child and she would rather send him with his nanny to a museum or park. And I really respected her for that comment.

This will probably show my age, but looking at Tori reminds me so much of Karen Carpenter. Put your priorities in order and be a good role model to your children. I know it is hard juggling everything that comes with marriage, children, work, etc. but when life gets so busy you cant find the time to eat… its time to make some adjustments.
I’m sure the kids would give up everything material in order to have their mommy around for years to come. Her life seems like one big whirlwind, maybe its time to relax and take care of Tori for a while?

Stella is a sweet little deer in headlights. I LOVE Tori’s dress, too. Yes, her head appears large just as other lollipop actresses who have lost so much weight. I don’t necessarily agree with this statement. Celebrities depend on us to pay their bills. They want us to be interested in them when their latest movie, album or book comes out, but suddenly they want us to switch off the interest when it comes to their private lives. I love how people want to defend certain celebrities when it fits their mood. It’s the perils of being in the spotlight constantly, talking to the press constantly and writing books about your family. Don’t forget an ongoing public fued with your mother. Even through all that, I never have had issues with her..until now.
She goes to events looking that skinny…she clearly KNOWS how skinny she looks and is…or she wouldn’t bring it up and try to cover up saying she has kids to chase around. And she also threw in the eating disorder comment. Of course that is going to spark debate. She is spread too thin. Mothering is hard enough by ITSELF. She’s got books, a jewelry line, acting, a reality show…that is bound to take it’s toll WITH eating right. I have no idea if she’s still nursing or not, but that can take even more out of you. She has plenty of resources at her disposal to ensure she eats and has meals to eat on the go or after her children go to bed/nap. She looked fantastic after she had Stella. Thin but HEALTHY. You don’t lose that much weight, that quickly, without skipping many meals and neglecting yourself. She’s too thin. Everyone can see that. She’s lost so much weight that even her IMPLANTS look tiny now. The camera ADDS weight, it doesn’t make you smaller. The contradiction of “I eat healthy”…but I don’t always have time to sit down and eat a well balanced meal is blatant. If she can eat a broccoli floret and piece of hot dog, she could have made herself extra and sat down with the kids and eaten while they did. I would respect her more if she would SAY “I’m too skinny..I’ve let myself go lately and I’m re-prioritizing and going to be at my optimum health again.”

And I really wish they would have let the kids skip the red carpet or put sunglasses on Stella, too. I saw video of that red carpet walk and *I* nearly seized(I’m not epileptic)…I can only imagine what Stella saw and thought.

Calling her anorexic is not absurd, and “laying off” is how anorexic people get to weights like 90 lbs. I was anorexic and I denied it forever. I would say I was sick or just walked a lot (I went to a very large university)or I was naturally skinny (I’m 6’0 tall) but the other readers are right: you do not get to the level of skinny she is without trying on some level (even subconsciously). I’ve read about several girls on the new 90210 being way too thin and maybe being in their company gave Tori and skewed idea of how she looks.

The difference with a plumber is, you hire a plumber to fix your toilet or your sink. They are to do a certain job. They have every right to ask you if you flush paper towels down the toilet, because it pertains to their job. You couldn’t say, “That’s my toilet, it’s none of your business what I put in it!”

It’s the same with celebrities. She had a reality show for goodness sake. She obviously wanted attention from people when it was convenient for her. But now you don’t want attention because it’s going to be negative? Sorry, it doesn’t work that way. No one forces us to watch anything, but that’s not going to stop the paparazzi…the very same people Tori courts when she’s selling her latest book or reality show for a photo op. If you like the spotlight, you want the attention. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad. You have to take both in the entertainment industry. It’s the price of being a celebrity.
