Wheeeee! Matilda Rose Ledger, 3, gets a lift from mom Michelle Williams and friend Dan Estabrook after a group breakfast in Brooklyn on Thursday. The trio enjoyed a fun-filled walk through the borough’s streets after their meal.
Matilda is Michelle’s only child with the late Heath Ledger.

i loove to do this with the children i babysit but i wouldn’t do this too often a two year old from my neighborhood had its arm dislocated at the elbow after his parents did it.
i just love how her mother manages to kepp things going for mathilda and to make her such a happy little girl

I think that man is Dan Estabrook, he’s an artist. They’re seemingly very close as she spoke about him in an interview I read a while ago. Her boyfriend Spike Jonze looks a bit similar, I suppose.
I adore Michelle, she’s my favourite contemporary actress, and she seems like such a low-key, devoted mother. Matilda is a cutie. Gorgeous pic!

I live in Brooklyn and that’s how ALL the guys wear their pants..Black guys, white, hispanic, asian. Thats the style for guys under the age of 30. My bf upstate doesn’t get it! He refuses to wear it, so whenever he comes down here he looks dated.

actually, i dont think that’s spike jonze, he’s got darker hair. it could be him as he looks a lot like that man in the picture but that man is clearly blonde, while Spike is almost brown-haired.
But anyhow, Matilda looks so incredibly happy in this picture! She really is a sweer little girl.

Yeah, that’s definitely not Spike Jonze. He doesn’t look much like Dan at all. Spiffy dresser, though-I’ve always gone for that Euro/Metro look 
I read on Just Jared that Spike was spotted having breakfast with Matilda at Isabella’s on the Upper West Side. If Michelle’s letting them go out alone together their relationship is obviously very close and serious. I hope it works out for them and Matilda is able to grow up with a strong father figure in her life.

Rose, I know of at least three children who have had their shoulders dislocated when one of their parents did this to them as well! I know it’s fun, but I don’t think a lot of people realize how dangerous it is.

So, every time a picture of Matilda is posted here someone comments on how horrible it is that she doesn’t have a father and wondering when “it will hit her.” And all of a sudden, these happy pictures of this beautiful, smiling girl are turned into yet another depressing post.
It’s been over a year and it is obvious that they are trying to move on with their lives the best they can. I can’t help but think that everyone’s comments about Heath is making it harder for them to move on. I don’t know if Michelle reads this blog (she doesn’t seem like the type). But, these Heath comments are all over the place.
I know I’m kind of rambling. But, it seems like Michelle and Matilda are trying to move on and live their lives and we (the public) just won’t let them.

Her friend is “boyfriend” Spike Jonze. It’s so nice to see them together and how happy Matilda is. Her story will always be heartbreaking but it shows that Michelle is such a loving mother.

Matilda seems like the type of little girl you would just love to know, like a real bundle of fun. Yes, it is still sad that her father is gone but maybe it’s time to stop reminding everyone and let this little family get on with moving on with their lives.
I’m sure Heath is still a big part of their life but it would be nice if once in a while we could see a pic of Matilda and appreciate that she is a happy little kid without it always coming down to how sad it is he is gone. She is going to have a tough time when she is older when she realises how great her daddy was so let her just be Matilda for a bit.

Sarah, nobody said that Michelle and Matilda shouldn’t move on. If I’m stuck in January 2008 so be it. I just don’t want to forget about him all that quickly. And I’m worried about Matilda. I grew up without my father, but at least mine is alive. I have not much of a family so let me be sad about this ‘unnecessary’ father-less child.
I do notice how happy Matilda looks in all these pictures and it’s great!

And yes, my son is one that has had his elbow dislocated! He was two and it was very painful until the ER doc popped it back into place. So be careful out there!

I agree Sj. wrap the girl in a bubble, make her wear a helmet and knee pads and just leave her at home… you know just to be safe. My dad use to turn me upside down and spin me, imagine, maybe someone should have called child services. Come on guys give it a break, life is meant to be fun – if you spend your life worrying about safety it wont be much fun. For whatever reason in the last 10 years we have become obsessed with safety and have become very critical of parents who dont shield their kids from everything

I have to say I do agree with the people who think it’s a shame that a picture of a little girl having a good time gets turned into a commentary on how sad her situation is… Heath’s death will always be a tragedy and it will always be sad that she has to grow up without him, but I really hope that the people who are actually close to her in her life aren’t constantly bringing up how sad it is that Heath isn’t around, like the rest of the world does. It’s one thing for her to remember her father and have people tell her stories about him, but it’s another thing to always remind her that what she has to go through, growing up without him, is sad.
