Update: Baby boy has been given a name — Luca Alexander Dos Santos! The first name was chosen as it means “bringer of light,” and Luca was born just as the sun rose over the city, while Alexander is a family name. See photos of Kristin’s new addition at her site.

Originally posted April 6th: If you guessed that E!’s Kristin Dos Santos was going to have a little boy, you are correct! The Watch with Kristin columnist and her husband João Dos Santos welcomed a son at 5:03 a.m. on Sunday, April 5th after labor began on Kristin’s due date of April 4th. The little boy, whose name has yet to be released, weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz and was 22 inches long. Everyone is reported to be doing well.

Kristin announced her pregnancy in October following viewers noticing her “fuller figure” at the Emmys. She began her maternity leave at the end of March asking readers for their input on “my bambino’s birth date and sex” as well as name ideas.

Baby boy Dos Santos is the first child for Kristin and João, who were married in July 2007.

She didn’t even release the name after she asked for our input?!! What the fudge? ;)

Maybe they haven’t made a final decision yet. It took almost two days for my husband and I to choose between our final two for our oldest son. Congratulations to Kristin and Joao.

Randi on

Wow someone acutally who went into labor on there due date is it just me or don’t you hear that much? I was only two days late but Congrats to her and her new family.

I love Kristen – back from the days when she was Wanda. I wish her and Joao the best.

Sanja on

Finally a baby born on my birthday! Can’t wait to hear the name?

Mary on

My son was 22 inches at birth, too. And my husband is Portuguese like Joao…coincidental!

Can’t wait to hear the baby’s name. ;-)

Janine on

love the name!

Luca, kinda overdone at this point but I like it still. It goes well with the last name.

Lis on

Luca sounds kina feminine to me…with the “a” on the end. I prefer Lucas.

Mrs. R. on

LOVE it! Beautiful name, with meaning, fitting with his background. That kid is named perfectly!

Lis — You must not watch much ER! =)

Sanja on

I love Luca, but prefer the spelling Luka!

Mia on

Cute name, but I prefer Lucas for a boy, it sounds more masculine than Luca, and you just add the extra “s” lol. Either way, I wonder if they will call him “Luke” for short? Congrats to them!

SouthernBelle on

Little Luca was born on my birthday! I have a question about Dad…how do you pronounce the name “João?” I know Joaquin (which contains the first three letters of the name João) is Wah-KEEN, but I can’t figure João out! :-(

Max'sMom on

Its pronounced Joe-ah
I actually love that name. :)

Rita on

Southernbelle: João is a Portuguese name, and it’s said something like [zhoo-OW] or [zhoo-ã-oo](where the ã has a nasal sound, like the ‘en’ in encore. Joaquin is a Spanish name, so the pron. are completely different!

Anyway, I do like the name; I would have prefered Lucas, too, but it’s very handsome and classic.

Luca is a masculine name (Italian) and my FAVORITE name for a boy – and my favorite footballer is Luca Toni!

Fifi on

I like the name Luca, I don’t think its overdone at all, we harldy ever hear this name….and i’m sorry but why would the call him Luke for short, his name is Luca, if they wanted to call him Luke the would have named him that, its not like Luca is a long name to say….

CelebBabyLover on

It makes sense that the name “Luca” means “bringer of light” as it’s probably the male version of the name “Lucia”, which means the same thing. :)

Susan on

The name is perfect. Unique without being strange or potentially difficult for the litle boy. He can go by “Lou” if he wants to. Well done to the Dos Santos’ on a great name choice!

Jane on

I love the name they choose. Luca is one of my favorite boy’s names.

Kate on

My son is called Luca, it is the most perfect name.

Izz on

Love love love the name congrats! I bet that baby is beautiful
