Inspired Crib Bedding: Why Does the Baby Ever Cry with Bedding This Cool?

Geo Pink and Green

With a name like Minky it’s got to be good. Inspired Crib Bedding is modern, luxurious lovely stuff that will make a sleep-deprived mama want to climb into the crib with her new little bambino.

In addition to the velvety cashmere of minky fabric, the cottons are crisp and all bedding is beautifully finished with piping and ribbon. The designs are a lovely hybrid of space-age modernity in sweet classic shades — clear light blues, soft pale pinks, pale oranges and greens.

The bedding set ($300) comes with minky and cotton padded bumpers, a flat sheet, a minky fitted crib sheet, and a minky-lined crisp comforter (that in my house will see a lot of time outside the crib as well). The line also carries adorable minky pillows, stroller blankets, hooded robes and towels, and more.

It makes you wonder why does the baby ever cry?

It’s very nice looking stuff. I think it’s a bit much to spend on bedding that will be peed on, pooped on, spit-up on, and may only be used for 2 years max.

Doesn’t exactly look baby-safe to me, especially with the stringent crib standards already in place in the US. Crib bumpers are strongly discouraged and babies shouldn’t sleep with heavy blankets and pillows. (Maybe the pillows are meant more for Mommy or Daddy or while the baby is being supervised.)

I agree that this set is very cool, but I think that all babies would cry in this crib because the pattern is over-stimulating! That is why I LOVE the logic behind companies like Engage Environments (pattern only on the outside of the crib). Babies need their sleep (the inside of the crib need not have a pattern). Cute stuff though!

I lost my nephew to SIDS last year and I cannot begin to describe how devastating it is to parents and their families. The SIDS foundation strongly suggests the only thing that belongs in a crib is the child. NO bumper pads, blankets, pillows etc. Dress babies warm, but comfortable and they will be just fine. Realistically, do we as parents think our children will roll over so fast and furiously that they will actually hurt themselves??!! I used bumpers with my two boys, but they are older and knowing what I know now – I wouldn’t do that again. Don’t mean to be a downer, it’s just something I feel so strongly about. :)

it kinda reminds me of the cingular logo.

It looks cute, but the pattern is pretty busy.

I had never heard of bumpers before coming on US websites, so I don’t think they are needed.

I really like the sample crib they use in the photos. Does anyone know the make and model, or where I can find the crib?

Crib bumpers are a hold-over from before the current standards for cribs. They were meant to keep the baby’s head and hands from getting caught between slats when they would move about in the crib. They’re completely unnecessary these days, though, but I guess some parents might use them when their infants become toddlers.

Minky fabric is very soft even though it is 100% polyester. Custom bedding that fits with your nursery decor can be had near this price.

I love this style!

These sets are cute, but very busy. I had never even heard of Minky before now, it seems very pricey. I do not think I would pay that much, 150.00 is ideal. As for the comments about not needing bumpers, I know that SIDS is a horrible reality, I have used bumpers with my 3 kids and I am glad I did. Once they started saying things about SIDS with my first child I took the bumpers out and every time she rolled over at night and hit her head she would cry and be up for awhile. So, I decided to put them back in and am glad I did.
