Bid on Richie-Madden Hand-Me-Downs!

Fame

In November, we introduced you to handmedowns.com, a site where moms can post ads about gently used clothing, shoes and baby gear, to sell to other moms looking for such goods. In February, Gwen Stefani offered up items used by sons Kingston James McGregor and Zuma Nesta Rock, and now, Nicole Richie is auctioning items used by daughter Harlow Winter Kate.

Shoppers can bid on items like a special edition Maclaren Lacoste stroller (signed by Nicole!), adorable baby moccasins worn by Harlow, a Gymboree romper, delicate Mary Janes and more. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Richie-Madden Foundation — and your little girls will be outfitted in style! The auction begins today and runs through Friday, April 17th. Visit handmedowns.com for more information, and check the site next month for donations from the Jolie-Pitts!

I wonder if they’re doing this because they are expecting a boy this time around?

- Jessica on

I would definitely dress my kid in harlows had me downs. The stuff she is putting up for auction is designer items and would cost a lot more in a department store.

- lauren on

I would of thought that Nicole would keep them in case she had any future daughters? I did and it was much easier than buying new clothes for my second and third and fourth and fifth daughter. yes thats right i have 6 girls- 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 6 months. All my girls get hand me downs and yes i do buy a few new things for the younger kids but not much. Of course for the 10 year old she is always needing new clothes because she grows so quick and has no older siblings but sometimes i will get things from her 12 year old cousin.

Yes if I had a girl. I bought garage sale items for my sons from people who weren’t celebraties. Harlows clothes are adorable and I’m sure in very good shape.

I definitely would dress my kid in Harlow’s hand-me-downs. I buy everything off ebay as it is…

- MD on

Yes, I would definitely purchase their hand-me downs!! Great clothes and a good cause.

- Joanne on

So maybe she’s expecting a boy next or just doesn’t mind buying all new things for her second daughter?
Either way it’s very generous of her.

- Natasha on

I would dress my kid up in Harlows hanfd-me-downs if I had one. I always think she looks so cute!

- Kim on

I would think instead of letting someone buy it for charity.
She’d actually GIVE the clothes to another child in need.
That’s right, I may NOT be RICH and FAMOUS, but that’s what I have done and I still give clothes that I don’t wear to the needy and not try to SELL them off.

If I had a daughter, I’d definitely dress her in the stuff Nicole Richie is auctioning off!

- Jon on

Nicole is not profiting from the auction. The proceeds go to Richie-Madden Foundation which benefits families in need.

#9 Michele: Rather than GIVE these expensive clothes to needy children, they can auction them off, make loads of cash for their charity and BUY clothes for LOTS of needy children. Why give a $50 sweater to a needy kid, when that same $50 can buy a sweater, pants, socks and shoes for a couple of kids.

No, I wouldn’t dress my baby in ANYONE’S hand-me-down’s! While I am NOT rich and famous but I prefer my babies wear NEW things that no one else has worn. I do think it’s nice of her to sell the things for charity, it might have been nicer still to simply GIVE the clothing to a mom who can’t afford to buy clothing for her baby. As far as that stroller, I don’t know if I’d want a stroller that has an AUTOGRAPH on it!! LOL By the time whoever wins the auction gets it, they’ll have paid MORE than the $400.00 retail price! Funny…

- Leanna on

Oooh, I want Maddox Jolie-Pitt’s Inky Dink Tees for my boy! He’d look as stylish as, if not more than(!), young Mr. Jolie-Pitt.

- Estelle on

Danielle- That’s very interesting! I wonder if the money from the J-Ps hand-me-downs will go to the Jolie-Pitt foundation? Anyway, I’m stunned that the J-Ps are selling hand-me-downs, as it seems like they hand clothes down from kid to kid in that family (Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh have all been pictured in clothes orignally belonging to Maddox, and Shiloh has also been pictured in clothes orginally belonging to Zahara).

- CelebBabyLover on

Oh, and I doubt Nicole’s giving away Harlow’s stuff because she’s having a boy. They chose not to find out the sex of Harlow before she was born, so I’m guessing they’re having another delivery surprise!

- CelebBabyLover on

There are only a few clothes in the auction, I am sure that they still have loads both for hand me downs to baby No. 2 and for donating. After all, Harlow is a little fashionista!

- MiB on

Leanna I agree it’s a nice charity, but I personally wouldn’t put any kid’s hand me downs on my children. Unless thye hand me downs are from my own kids, I don’t care how famous you are, it’s so creepy to wear clothes other kids wore. I like new stuff for me kids.

- gianna on

I dressed in my cousin’s hand me downs. Some of us don’t have the money to buy new clothing for every season. It isn’t gross if you wash the clothing. It’s not like we share underwear. Anyway, I think this is a great idea and appaluad our fav. celeb moms for doing this :-)
