Harlow Madden Wants to Stay and Play!

Harlow Winter Kate Madden had a grand old time at the playground on Sunday — running through the grass with expectant mom Nicole Richie and digging in the sandbox — but when it was time to go, she wasn’t a happy camper!

The 15-month-old wanted to stay and play, but alas, the pair had to leave! At least Harlow will have a playmate soon — Nicole and dad Joel Madden expect a sibling for her in late August/early September.

Nicole looks great. I hope her weight isn’t going to continue to be brought up. She’s already carried, delivered, and nursed a healthy child for a year, clearly she’s fine. I’m built the same way and eat like a horse. It’s a lucky metabolism to have.

When she was on the Simple Life she had just come out of drug rehab…she then quickly lost the weight and it was too much.

Personally I think she looks great now, she’s curvier than she was and I think motherhood has softened her look.

Is it just me or does it seem like all of the celebrity moms go to the playgrounds just to be photographed? I would imagine that they all have their own playgrounds at home.
I guess even though they are famous, they still want their kids to be “normal” and interact with other children at the public playgrounds. I give the moms credit if that is the case since they know they’ll have to deal w/ the paps while they are there. It must get annoying.

Nicole’s weight is fine. She is a tiny woman (I’ve seen her up close and in person) and I’ve heard she likes to eat just like everybody else. Harlow is such a beautiful little girl. I’m so happy for Joel and Nicole. can’t wait to see the next one.

Poor thing, it looks like Miss Harlow wasn’t ready to go home just yet!

Regarding Nicole’s weight, Nicole is naturally very thin. Always has been. She was heavier on the Simple Life because she had just gotten out of rehab and off heroin. She said this herself. If you look at pictures of Nicole when she was a little girl she was pretty much a beanpole like she is now.

Do you have any kids? Having kids and being stuck at home all the time is hard on mom and baby. Its great to get out and have a change of scenery. It also helps expose babies to the outside world. If I was a celebrity I wouldn’t stay at home just because the paparazzi might take be there to take my picture. I would be determined to take my child to the playground like a “normal” meaning non-celebrity family. I think she looks wonderful! I can’t wait to see what this baby is going to be.

She carries her bump so low. Honestly, I’m sure Nicole could use to put on 5lbs for vanities sake, but I wouldn’t say shes unhealthy. Plus, short girls I noticed don’t carry extra weight that well and nicole it like 5’1. She looks fine.

In regards to Nicoles weight, yes she is really tiny. BUT…..it’s not fair to sit here and bash her about being small. I am smaller then Nicole and it really bothers me mentally and emotionally when people say thses types of things to me about my weight. I am only 4’10 and under 100lbs, I carried 3 very healthy babies full term and all 3 exceeded the Dr’s guestimate for their weight. Sadly I TRIED to keep the extra lbs on after birth but I was unable to everytime, this is how I was made, this is my metabolism and I am unable to get around it even tho I eat a high cal diet daily!!!!! I think alot of you that have a problem with Nicoles weight need to stop and think, what if Nicole was overweight or obese? Would you sit here and say that she could afford to loose 20-30lbs???? No, why not? Is it ignorant….YES it is right??? So before you jump the “she could afford to eat” gun you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if it would hurt you to hear someone nit pick about you over your weight!

It’s not fair for anyone on here to make negative comments about Nicole’s weight. Unless you are her, you don’t know what the situation is. She is obviously healthy enough to conceive, not to mention that Harlow was born a very good weight, and is clearly a healthy child. It is really unfair to assume that because someone is thin they are doing something unhealthy to be that way. I just gave birth to a very healthy little girl two weeks ago. I gained a total of 20 lbs in my pregnancy, which I struggled to gain, and have already lost all of it without trying. Some of us just have very fast metabolisms, just as others have very slow metabolisms. No one would make comments about her weight if she was on the larger side, but for some reason people think it’s okay to comment about thin people being “unhealthy.”

Personally, I think they both look beautiful.
I also think that we need to step back and let the weight topic go, specifically for Nicole Richie. The argument for stockier women is always “I am built that way”, right? So why can’t that be true for the skinnies out there? Actually, to put a point on it, in my opinion, we have gotten so used to our “first world” weight, prosperous-sized women AND men that we think someone looks malnourished just because they don’t have that kind of weight to carry around. And then we go all crazy and go right over the edge on the other end on the scale (see those celebrities and young girls “trying to hard”, and losing or never even gaining a real sense of self, health and figure) Where is the group “healthy mind in a healthy body”? There is no such thing as THE beautiful body, there are all kinds of beautiful bodies out there… Embrace you shapes, ladies!

girls, she’s FINE. some people just have very petite frames. my mother had four children and weighed under 120lbs when she delivered all of them. she’s only 4’10. infact, when my oldest brother and i were born she was about 80 lbs pre-preg and probably 115 lbs or less when she delivered!

While I’m not a fan of how skinny she is, everyone’s body is different. I had a friend gain a whopping 10 lbs during her pregnancy and another gain 17 and they ate like pigs. Their children came out at perfectly healthy weights (6lbs and 8lbs). Some people just have a hard time gaining and maintaining weight.

Nicole and Harlow are sweet and its not Nicole’s fault that she is naturally petite. They both look healthy and happy. Some women are just lucky like she may gain a dress size in her 40′s maybe. Can’t wait to see the new baby. BTW Nicole must be strong because Harlow looks like she would get heavy after holding her for awhile:)

On the weight topic; if you feel good telling someone who’s obviously healthy to gain weight when they are already healthy, why not tell someone else who’s still healthy but bigger to lose weight because they don’t look as well? It’s such a double standard we have in society.

Lol it’s funny how you all critisize how small Nicole is when the majority of America and most other countries are overweight or obese which is also bad (worse in fact) for the baby.

So for the over-weight/obese people critisizing Nicole for being small, I say get off your large behinds and go for a walk and eat healthy for you’re baby otherwise you’re risking your babies health. How do you like it?

Also Nicole was skinnier when she was this far along with Harlow, and she looks like a healthy regular sized 15 month old. She was also 6 and a half pounds at birth which is healthy and a very regular size. Her belly looks just right to me for 4 months.

That is true.. No body ever tells a heavy set women lose 30-40 pounds, its unhealthy for the baby! But when you see a skinny woman pregnant people just assume the negative, oh i hope your eating, i wonder how you even conceived… My mom is 5’1″ and was 115 pounds when she gave birth, kind of like how Nicole looks, i was an 8 pound 9oz pound baby. Both mommy of three & Lis need to chill- why are you all picking on Lis? mommy of three gave back some nasty comment to Lis about Looking in the mirror and not liking what she saw!apparently momy of three is 4’10 and is very short so obviously you would be under 100lbs! If you weighed over 100 lbs you would be over weight! my friend is 4’11 and weighs 99lbs and is not at all skinny but just right! height is a major factor in weight! This talk on weight is so dumb and one sided. Mommy of 3, I completely agree with you. When I was younger, I was always called names like knock knees and the popular one was chicken chest (flat chest). Everyone would compare me to my bigger cousin. I ate more than her, but we didn’t own a computer and video games and stuff so we spent most of our time playing outside rather than indoors. It was always the same comments about my weight. I was malnourished or “boys don’t want a girl who looks like them” etc. One day I called her a fat@$$ whale and her mom slapped me and told me how I was being mean. I learned from then how women can be and about that double standard.

And the comment about her eating for the baby and “omg I’m surprised she can concieve” is completely uncalled for.

I swear sometimes I wonder if it the mommies or their kids leaving comments here…

Nicole looks beautiful, and Harlow is adorable as ever. I know what it’s like when your bubba wants to stay and play! It’s like the WORST THING IN THE WORLD, lol. Distract Distract Distract as you walk away :p

As for the ongoing debate on Nicole’s weight — none of our business. She’s obviously healthy enough to carry a healthy baby to term and conceive again. As a “smaller” person, it’s really hurtful for people to ask me whether I’m eating or not, or that I’m way too small to carry a baby, or that I’m dieting. My caregivers are free to discuss that with me, not the general public, thanks.

She looks cute and happy and Harlow is absolutely adorable, but she is just way too thin. A normal weight person should gain about 25-30 lbs. when preggo, but when you’re underweight to start, you need to gain more…about 40+ lbs.

What a cute little girl! And Nicole looks great pregnant. I am also a very tiny person. I am almost 5’5″ but normally only weigh about 110. I just burn off calories really fast. Despite that I had two healthy kids, the second was almost 11 pounds and delivered naturally. So, I don’t think small stature has anything to do with pregnancy and birth. Plus, she should only be about 4 months along, so chances are she hasn’t gained much weight. I didn’t until about 30 weeks, and was always just “baby” as most people called it. I think she looks like a very healthy pregnant woman. Plus, running after a 15 month old is hard work!

L- The way you carry has absolutly NOTHING to do with what gender your baby is! People thought Jennifer Garner was having a boy as well, because of how she carried…and she had little Seraphina! People were also so sure that Isla Fisher, Halle Berry, Katie Holmes, Jessica Alba, and Nicole during her first pregnancy were having boys…and they all had girls!

On the flip side, Britney Spears carried high in both of her pregnancies (which supposedly means a girl), and she had boys both times, and people were convinced Christina was having a girl but she ended up having a boy!
