Fisher-Price Stay-In-Place Sun Shade: My Future's So Bright

Babies really hate having the sun in their eyes, so Fisher Price has developed a sun shade for the car window that actually stays put when you put the window down.

The Stay-in-Place Sun Shade ($7) has colorful animals printed on it and a plastic tab at the bottom to keep it from getting all wadded up when the window goes down. It can be cut to fit any car’s window and installs easily. Be prepared for a vinyl smell, but that fades with time.

As a carseast tech, this is the kind of shade we like to see. A general rule of thumb is if you can throw a shade at yourself, and it hurts, it will most likely really hurt a baby/toddler in an accident. The shades with suction cups are not going to stay on during an accident and will come flying off and become a projectile. So I’m glad to see FP come out with a shade like some of the more generic peal shades we see out there.

I bought this a while back at babies r us for my son who still sleeps in the car. I love it. It really does stay where it is supposed.

If a product has that familiar “vinyl smell” it most likely means that it is PVC or polyvinyl chloride, one of the most toxic substances known to man. I am disappointed that CBB would give such a dangerous product a positive review.

is it hard to take it off after using it for a while? or does it leave any stains on a window?
