Looks like there’s another star designer on the rise. Tori Spelling has inked a deal for a children’s apparel line, Little Maven by Tori Spelling, which will hit stores this fall. The actress and mom-of-two dished to PEOPLE.com about her chic and casual Hollywood-inspired.

“I’ve always loved fashion,” she says. “It’s one of my big passions in life. When I had kids I knew I wanted to use my flair for style to make stylish yet comfortable clothing for my children. Liam and Stella inspired me to make stylish yet accessible clothing for infants, toddlers, and children.”

But style wasn’t the only factor actress considered. “The comfort [and] functionality factor really influences the styles I include in my collection. I pay close attention to what styles and materials Liam and Stella feel most comfortable in, and then I add the stylish element. Plus I love to dress my kids in strong fun pop colors, and that really inspired me to keep the line bold in palette.”

So which looks are her kids loving right now? “Liam loves bold bright colors and gravitates to them. Of course, he wants to wear something with a monkey on it, which inspired the monkey hang tag on all the boys clothing. He also loves jeans. So I created the “Liam” jean just for him. It’s the perfect cut, stylish, and comfortable. And I love the LM stitched on back pockets, which stands for Little Maven, but I tell him it’s LM for Liam McDermott!”

Inspired by her new baby girl, Tori knew she wanted to take her girls’ designs in a direction that was cute — but not too girly. “I wanted to find the happy medium between dressing Stella too baby-girl-frilly and too sophisticated in style. It’s adorable toddler mixed with Hollywood glam starlet!”

Items will retail between $24-$88 in department and specialty stores across the country and are being made by children’s apparel line Hartstrings.

I saw a preview of Tori’s Little Maven clothing line at the ENK Show in New York last month- it is really cute, esp. the boys’ clothing. I took some pictures too- here is a link: http://tinyurl.com/cl5nds

Do we really need another celebrity designing clothes?

super cute but real people can’t afford items that cost this much with how quickly children grow!

it’s very easy to say, “oh, another celebrity designing clothes” and fair enough, BUT it’s the way they do it that matters, not the fact that they are doing it. tori did a reality show, lotsa celebs have done it,hers is filming a 4th season atm and her marriage is still in tact. tori wrote a book, lotsa celebs have done that, hers made it to the top of ny times best sellers list. tori designs jewellry, other celebs have done it,hers sells out on hsn every time she appears on the show.for every 3 people out there who don’t like tori, there are 2 who do.she has a fanbase, myself included who would buy almost anything with her name on it. call it what u want,i call it money in the bank.just because other celebs have preceeded her at times, that does not necessarily equal failure.for better or worse, tori is unique and i think her children’s clothes will sell very well.

What. Why would you admit to that? I hope she comes out with her own line of pig parts or batteries. To each his own, but I wouldn’t admit to buying things blindly because it has someones name on it.

I don’t approve of celebrity lines for two reasons. 1) people go to school to truly learn the art and science of design. Most of these celebs do not, they just stamp their name on an overpriced product. I’m going to give my hard earned money to a real designer.

2) The clothing is usually second-rate compared to the work of other people. I’ve never heard someone go “you know thats ___line?” and have been surprised. It shows, from lack of real design or originality. When it is good, it tends to be ripped ideas from other designers(Nicole Richies line for example rips off earlier 60s jewelry designs lauren conrads line rips off forever 21 lol).

To each his own of course.

Elle, I don’t know why she would admit that either, but she has a point. Celebs DO have fanbases that will buy anything that has their name on it. That’s how people like Tori can be successful without neccesarily being talented.

I agree, I have been watching her show “tori and dean” every time it comes on. I would think that the clothes would be a reasonable price since her potential buyers are her fans. I was dissapointed and sad in a way when I went to the site that they sell “little maven” and I can’t get over the fact that she still is trying to make $ out of her fans. I mean she makes money from her books, the show and everything else. She should of thought of us first, even though we don’t spend much money on our clothes (moms) we want our babies to look the cutest they can and to show everyone how beautiful they are. Iam always shooping for my 15 month old but its always the sale rack. I want her to have the best clothes and shoes she can without overspending. So yes when I heard of tori having a kids clothing line I thought she would think of us who try our best to give our babies beyong what they need. I will just stick to “the childrens place” and used gymboree off of craigslist.
