Marcia Cross Teams Up With Mott's to Feed America

With nearly 36 million Americans — a third children — facing the uncertainty of when their next meal will be, actress Marcia Cross could not turn down the opportunity to team up with Mott’s and Feeding America (formerly known as America’s Second Harvest) in order to ensure that one million kids won’t go to bed hungry. “It’s a wonderful cause and thinking of kids going hungry is a horrible thought, so this was a campaign that was easy to say ‘yes’ to,” Marcia tells CBB.

The concept of the campaign is easy: visit motts.com to send free wake-up calls from the Desperate Housewives star herself! For each family that receives their phone message from Marcia, Mott’s will donate $1 to Feeding America — an organization responsible for food banks countrywide. Each dollar donated will pay for seven healthy meals for children and their families; Motts plans to donate up to one million meals.

Many of these children receive free or reduced lunches at school, however, weekends and the upcoming summer vacation pose an obvious problem. While Feeding America presently provides meals for 9 million children by coordinating with food banks around the country, Marcia is hopeful that the Mott’s campaign will increase awareness on the issue and ultimately, through public donations, offer assistance outside of school as well.

Kicking off the campaign, Marcia took time out to visit children at school — as a part of Feeding America’s BackPack Program – and was thrilled to encourage the students to make healthy meal choices as they filled up bags of food to be taken home to their families.

“They were so cute! Just adorable. And they got these huge bags of food that are not only for them but for their brothers, sisters, families, and extended families too. It was really a necessary endeavor, and certainly something that needs to go on for them during weekends and holidays — not just schoold ays — so they can continue to get their food.”

Molly Shannon and Kids Hit the Shops

Kath & Kim star Molly Shannon had her hands full on Saturday, carrying her shopping bags and leading children Stella, 5 ½, and Nolan, 4 this month, while still keeping a smile on her face!

Molly, 44, recently spoke to Working Mother about one of her most stressful moments as a mom thus far, which occurred as she flew into LAX alone with the children.

“At the baggage claim, I was trying to balance the stroller with both of them in it and carry the bags, and there was just a lot going on. The stroller tipped over, and the kids screamed because they were scared. No one was hurt. This kind of thing happens to all moms, but talk about pressure. I’ve accepted that I’m not perfect. I have lists of things I need to get done each week, and a lot of stuff might not get done. You know what? That’s okay.”

I stocked up on HALO SleepSack Wearable Blankets 3 ½ years ago when I had my son Finn, so I thought I wouldn’t need any new ones for baby Egan. But when I got my hands on one in the Deluxe Velboa fabric ($30) I knew I’d be adding to my collection. Read More

Kelly Clarkson Has 'No Desire' For Children

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage

Unlike many of her American Idol alumni, Kelly Clarkson says that having a child isn’t high on her list of priorities; In fact, it might not be on her list at all! “Oh my God, I have no desire,” the 26-year-old songstress tells USA Today. “I would not be a good mother.” Instead, Kelly enjoys being an aunt to her niece and nephew, and feels that the demands of her career would not be conducive to motherhood.

“I used to want to, like, adopt 10 kids – because I had friends who were adopted, and I thought that was the coolest thing, to be chosen. But again, my job is too selfish.”

Kelly’s new album All I Ever Wanted is in stores now.

The actor, 39, shared that as he was attempting to explain “the birds and the bees” to 6 ½-year-old son Jaden Rayne, he asked, “You’re aware that mommy and daddy are having a new baby?” Live host Kelly Ripa interjected, asking, “Did you just say you’re having a new baby?” David jokingly replied, “I said that? Oh I did! Yes, I’m having a new baby.”

It’s a girl for Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle and wife Jamie! Their daughter Brooklyn Jayden Buehrle was born Tuesday, March 3rd in Missouri, where the couple resides.

One day before, Mark, 29, left his team in order to attend the birth – which was timed perfectly; Manager Ozzie Guillen said he intended to skip Mark’s next scheduled start in order to rest his arm. Although Mark said he hoped to stay loose by “playing catch” during his six-day paternity leave, baseball was going to be low on his list of priorities! ”I’ll be there for my family,” he said.

Brooklyn joins big brother Braden David, 19 months, at home.
