Marcia Cross Considers the 'Old Cliché' of Motherhood To Be True

Flynet

The “old cliché” of mothers beaming with pride as they discover their children “just are who they are” is one that is ringing true for Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross. With her fraternal twin daughters Eden and Savannah having recently celebrated their second birthday — a “very small…charming” party complete with butterfly cookies and cakes  – the 46-year-old is enjoying watching her little ladies grow up. “You just kind of stand back and keep them safe,” she notes of motherhood, calling the job “the most incredible joy I’ve ever really known.”

As their mama lends her voice for Mott’s Wake Up Call, Eden and Savannah are busy brushing up their utensil skills! “They’re getting better with the spoon, but there is definitely some bib action going on still,” Marcia tells Entertainment Tonight. While the actress shares that her girls are “pretty good eaters,” from the sound of things, one may be needing the bib more than the other! “One actually will eat absolutely anything you put in front of her; One sort of, just likes to drink a lot of milk, so it’s interesting to watch,” the proud mama explains.

Admitting that she is “not one for thinking of master motherhood,” Marcia reveals she seems to have discovered the key to maintaining a happy family. Her secret? Humor! “Nobody ever says use humor instead of getting into it,” she says. “It’s like the yes, no thing all the time because obviously they have a free will and they want to do what they want.” Fortunately, Marcia’s ability to keep her girls in fits of giggles has proven to be a win-win situation for all, according to the actress.

“I get them laughing and that’s a great distraction and a lot of fun. Then they develop a sense of humor. That’s been really a great thing for me — getting them to laugh rather than getting in power struggles.”

Eden and Savannah are Marcia’s daughters with her husband, Tom Mahoney.

Tori Spelling Celebrates Liam's 2nd Birthday!

Cars! Cake! The Jumpitz!

After missing his birthday party the previous weekend due to a high fever, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott‘s son Liam Aaron was treated to a car-themed encore on Sunday.

Together with his mom, dad, 9-month-old sister Stella Doreen and 16 party guests, Liam celebrated his second birthday at his new home outside Los Angeles with the help of toys from the movie Cars, a car-shaped cake (from Beverly Hills bakery Hansen’s Cakes) and a performance by his favorite music group, The Jumpitz.

“Liam is obsessed with the animated movie Cars,” says his mom, “and I made him a little red car racing jumpsuit with a Liam name patch on it.”

Liam and his friends also enjoyed a blow-up ball pit in his living room and a small petting zoo in the backyard. The Jumpitz, a five-member children’s performance group, helped the intimate group sing “Happy Birthday” to Liam before the cake cutting. Says Tori: “The cutest was when he got to dig his hands into the giant red car cake and Stella was right into it as well!”

At the end of the two-hour shindig, guests left with gift bags by Silver Spoons! – each with personalized bag tags by Mabel’s Labels.

Mother of Two Jade Goody Passes Away

Chris Joseph/Landmark/JPI

British reality star Jade Goody — mom to sons Bobby, 5, and Freddie, 4 — died in her sleep early Sunday — Mother’s Day in the U.K. — after losing her battle with cervical cancer. She was 27 years old. The Big Brother contestant — who at times drew controversy for her sharp tongue — documented her final weeks in the hopes of earning enough money from magazine, book and television deals to carve out a bright future for her sons, fathered by television host Jeff Brazier.

Though tragic, her death has increased awareness about cervical cancer in England, as health officials have reported increased inquiries and doctor’s appointments since Jade’s battle became public.

Learning Carpets: So Much More Than Your Average Rugs

One of the best things about my new home is the giant kitchen. But I wanted to make it kid friendly to keep my 1-year old twins entertained while I cook and clean up. Pair that with their new love of pushing and playing with cars and I knew the Learning Carpets My Neighborhood Kids Play Rug ($50) would be perfect.

You get a big 3’ x 6’8” rug that’s non-toxic, stain resistant and easy to clean. The soft rug gives them a place to push their cars around as they visit ‘the park’ or the ‘construction site.’ And since the last thing I want is a tiny head crashing onto my rock-hard tile floor, it also provides a little extra protection in case they topple over. Best of all, it keeps my little ones entertained long enough to let me empty the dishwasher.

Jessica Leccia on Her Favorite Maternity Outfits

Jason Kempin/Getty

Pregnancy offers women the chance to buy a brand new wardrobe, but actress Jessica Leccia — expecting her first child in June –  is trying to get the most out of her clothes before purchasing maternity wear. For that reason, she is a fan of Free People clothing because “they cut things really long, like tank tops, which I can still wear.”

Before becoming pregnant, Jessica loved pants by 7 For All Mankind and that hasn’t changed, thanks to the company’s offering of maternity jeans. “I live in [7 For All Mankind] jeans and I’ve decided that I actually like their maternity jeans because you don’t have to button, and that’s nice.” One maternity item that the actress is looking forward to purchasing is summer dresses.

“I just can’t wait for summer, when I can wear little dresses and the baby bump actually looks cute!”

Jessica, 33, has portrayed the character of Natalia Rivera on the daytime serial Guiding Light since April 25, 2007. She and husband Brian Malloy were married May 3rd, 2008 in Puerto Rico.
