Bumble Collection Busy Bee Backpack: We're All Abuzz About This One

03/18/2009 at 10:45 AM ET

The Bumble Collection may have thought of everything when they designed the Busy Bee Backpack diaper bag ($70). It comes in black, green, blue or red fabric that’s quilted with a cute-but-subtle bee pattern.

The Busy Bee Backpack comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, padded, adjustable backpack straps and matching, quilted stroller straps. The unused straps store nicely in a side pocket. On each end is a zippered bottle pocket and on top is a clever diaper-and-wipes compartment that’s accessible without rummaging through the main compartment of the bag.

When it’s time for a change, simply unzip the entire front of the bag and it becomes a changing surface while a mesh barrier keeps all your stuff from falling out. The removable changing pad attaches to the changer with Velcro. It is not wipeable but it is machine washable and the fabric matches the bag’s lining. The stiff bottom keeps the whole thing upright, which I love when it’s sitting next to my chair in a restaurant.

Perhaps the coolest thing about the Busy Bee Backpack is the included snack bag. Picture a rectangular makeup case with a zipper around three sides and a removable, fabric divider and a mesh pocket inside. It has a handle on top for carrying it separately or it fastens with Velcro onto the inside of the bag. If you’re toting Tupperware full of babyfood like I am, this little lunch box is a godsend.

The Busy Bee Backpack packs a lot of features, versatility and style in a nice-looking bag for $70. I think it’s the bee’s knees.

I’d give anything to have on for myself!!!! I’m still preparing, and he isn’t even here yet. Yes I peaked ….I had to be fully prepared. But as they say: “When it comes to motherhood you can never be fully prepared!! But this is sure a helper and a half!

Mom Said It

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."
