Next month Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, 38, will celebrate their first wedding anniversary, and like most newlyweds they’re often asked when they’ll have a baby. While the couple are “definitely working towards” parenthood, Nick tells USA Today that there were “a couple of things” they wanted to “get established first.”

“You want to enjoy each other for the first year, and we’ve traveled quite a bit…When you start a union, that has to be one of things that is on the forefront of your mind, but we’re so busy with everything else.”

Nick, 28, goes on to reveal that although he and his songstress wife are not yet ready for opening night, dress rehearsals are well underway! “We love each other, so we’re constantly in practice,” he jokes. “We’re going to let nature take its course, but the course is not a long one.”

She better hurry up or nature will surely take it’s course.

i thought i read on here not long ago that she didnt want children because of her own upbringing?????

anyway, that sometimes changes when you have a beautiful marriage and want to share that love.

“We’re going to let nature take its course, but the course is not a long one” … hmmm! Not to speculate on a possible pregnancy, but this sounds to like me they’re expecting, or at least hoping for, a little one sooner rather than later. Although I would be surprised the day they announce a pregnancy. I don’t mean to say they wouldn’t be good parents, but somehow Mariah never stroke me as the motherly type. Could be wrong, though.

haha, “let nature take it’s course.” they have been spotted visiting a fertility center in miami, the same one that jennifer lopez reported used. by “nature,” they must mean “fertility specialist.”

I can’t believe it’s been a year for these two. I was sure it was a joke, but here they are a year later. I like them both, but they continue to be an ODD pairing in my opinion. LOL I can’t picture them with kids, since I can’t even picture them really together.

It’s been said they’ve been trying for a while and decided to visit a fertility specialist. Hopefully she will be pregnant very soon! Good luck to them!

Weren’t they seen @ a fertility doctor?

M, I don’t think because someone sees a fertility doctor necessarily means they had IVF. I’m not sure if that’s what you are implying, but it could mean they ran some tests, to see if something is preventing them from having children. I know Jennifer Lopez in People talked about wondering after 3 or 4 years of trying wondering if it would ever happen for her, so perhaps she went to be tested.

As for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, they seem like a really weird couple, but if their happy then more power to them. I hope they get their wish for a child.

Mary-Helen- ITA! I also wonder, are there actually pictures of Mariah and Nick going to the fertility clinic, or is just rumored that they were seen there? The latter, I believe, was the case with J-Lo.

I wish people wouldn’t always assume that everytime someone goes to a fertility clinic, it’s to have IVF or other fertility treatments! Sometimes, as Mary-Helen said, people DO go to get tested. My parents, for example, struggled with infertility when they first tried to get pregnant and, well, let’s just say that my dad ended up being the one with the problems and was put on medication for them.

Given that fact, I would assume that my parents went to a fertilty doctor to be tested, since most doctors aren’t just to prescribe medication for infertility without determining the cause first!

Oops! I meant to finish up my previous post by stating that therefore, my parents are a perfect example of a couple who went to a fertility doctor to get tested, NOT to have fertility treatments! My brother and I were concieved the old fashioned way!

M – haha, I agree🙂
…And I have a funny feeling it will be twins for this couple, once “nature takes it’s course”!

Doctor assisted or natural -either way, so what?? There is no shame in fertility treatments. She is 38 years old, let’s face it- she better get to it if she wants a baby. I too think they are a weird couple and never thought of M as a mommy type but I wish them he best of luck.

There were actually pictures of them leaving a fertility clinic. Even if they are taking clomid, and not yet going the IVF route, that still really isn’t “nature”. Best of luck to them either way though.

CelebBabyLover on

Jes- “Even if they are taking clomid”…That made me laugh! I highly doubt Nick’s taking clomid! LOL!🙂 Anyway, okay, so there were pictures. But again, maybe they were just getting tested to see if there was anything specific preventing them from having kids.

CelebBabyLover on

Oh, and even if they were seen at the fertilty center on more than one occasion, they still could have been getting tested. Tests don’t often take just one day, especially if doctors are having trouble pin-pointing the cause of infertility!

Megan on

They were not seen leaving a clinic. They were seen leaving WILL SMITH’S office. But, of course, saying they were visiting Will Smith wouldn’t sell papers or get website hits, now would it? Will has been Nick’s mentor since forever, and Mariah has known Will since before she was famous.
