Fat Tie Tees: Sure Beats That Printed Tuxedo Tee!

Fat Tie Tees

If you’re faced with forcing a little boy into a stiff suit for a wedding or special occasion, here’s an ingenius solution: Fat Tie’s clever tee shirts for boys ($38).

A wide, striped, mesh necktie is sewn onto the front of each shirt so boys who are reluctant to dress up can go straight from the playground to a formal affair. The long-sleeved tees are made from super soft, preshrunk organic cotton and my 3-year-old son, Finn, says they’re so comfy. When my two boys showed up for Christmas dinner dressed up in their tie shirts, they made the grandmas swoon!

They come in three styles named Rusty (chocolate with orange stripes), Scooter (blue with brown and gold) and Rudy (white with red and green). Elvis Costello and Jack Black are fans and we can totally picture the smallest members of a wedding party decked out in Fat Tie tees.

$38?? seriously??? that is a shame! also, I went to the website and clicked on “stores” and “shop” just to see if they had any less expensive shirts and both buttons did not work :(

These are not remotely unique. There are tons of these on etsy, and I actually painted one for a little boy about 7 years ago!

Their site works for me, I dunno.

Pretty cute but I like Knuckleheads better ;)

This is a great idea, but I dont like the colors, there is no taste in them. But i like the idea itself

I agree. There are some great pics on http://www.etsy.com where you can support someone who makes these themselves. I have a friend who custom ordered one for her son which matched the custom dress she had made. Much cheaper!

It is kind of an old hat.

We love Etsy too, but most of the craftspeople who sell there can’t support the high volume of sales a CBB review might send their way. We would hate for our readers to get excited about something then find that they only made 14 of them. We encourage designers to contact us through the “contact us” link if they can provide their cute kids’ items in large numbers.

I actually think it’s really cute! A whimsical twist.

I actually just saw these for the first time today. I went to the Fat Tie site and the short sleeve shirts now cost only $15. Definitely affordable! I am definitely getting one for an upcoming wedding so my 20 month old could look great!

I am so glad I found these. I didn’t even know that they existed! Thanks for the post. Much better than a painted on tie, for sure.
