Rick Springfield Introduces First Kids' Album, My Precious Little One

03/04/2009 at 01:42 PM ET

Grammy Award-winner and General Hospital alum Rick Springfield is back on the musical scene with a new album of original lullabies called My Precious Little One ($12). Available exclusively on Amazon.com as both a CD and digital download for eight weeks, beginning March 10, 2009, the album includes songs written “during the heady days of brand new fatherhood” when his now twenty year old sons were babies. Rick says, “As a songwriter, I wanted to do something to commemorate the birth of our children and since neither of them were good sleepers, it seemed like a good idea to write lullabies.”

It’s a good thing the album is meant to put children to sleep because I found the songs to be musically monotonous with low production synth musical accompaniment. It’s a shame because the lyrics are interesting and Rick can still belt it out. Jesse’s Girl fans may not care as much and be happy to listen to the dulcet tones as their children drift off to sleep.

Well, I LIKE the CD. There’s nothing wrong with it. Geez, can’t you critics give an inch? Always gotta find fault!!!

I think the music is beautiful and the songs are very sweet. My son is a teenager now(a few years younger than Ricks) and i wish to god he put this album out when he first wrote them. I wouldnt have had those Barney nightmares I used to have. Rick Springfield is a great musician and all round nice guy.

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
