Melanie Brown on 60 Pound Baby Weight Gain: 'Oops!'

Fame

When Spice Girl Melanie Brown delivered a five pound baby girl — 22-month-old Angel Iris — following a 60 pound weight gain in 2007, she knew immediately that she had a problem on her hands! “It was that [thought of] ‘Oops!’” she admits during a recent appearance on The Bonnie Hunt Show. “My mum came over to live with me [when I was pregnant] and cooked me all these English dinners.” All good things must come to an end, however, and Mel says that high-calorie, home-cooked meals topped her list! She began working out at home in anticipation of her appearance on Dancing With the Stars, and good things followed.

“I thought to myself, ‘I want to be in shape.’ If you eat healthy and work out every other day, it does drop off. [You can exercise] when you have kids napping or at school. You have to have your me time. You have to work out and make yourself feel good about the way you look.”

Next up for the family — Mel is also mom to 10-year-old Phoenix Chi — are the bright lights of Las Vegas, where the 33-year-old songstress will be performing for six months at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. “It’s going to be fun, exciting and draining all at the same time,” Mel says. “Luckily the show starts at 8 p.m. so I’ll have all day with [the kids].”

“I can do school runs and all the food, and stuff. It will just be nice to be in one place for a certain amount of time.”

Phoenix is Mel’s daughter with ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar; Angel is her daughter with ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy. Mel’s new workout DVD Totally Fit is available now — check out our interview with her about it here!

Tommy Hilfiger and Wife Expecting a Baby

Seth Browarnik/Startraks

There’s been a change of plans in the design! After a confident Tommy Hilfiger revealed that he would not be expanding his brood any further with his new wife Dee Ocleppo, the fashion designer’s rep confirms that the couple are expecting their first child together. The new addition — who will join the family in late summer/early fall — will bring their busy household to a grand total of seven kids! In a statement, Tommy’s rep says,

“They couldn’t be happier. They are sharing their joy with friends right now. It’s a very tight-knit, family-oriented group so this is just good news all around. The kids couldn’t be more excited about welcoming a new member of the family.”

Before tying the knot back in December, Tommy told reporters that he had no plans to have more children — according to the 57-year-old he had more than enough! “I have children already — I have four of my own and my fiancée has two. So I have six now,” he said.

Tommy has Ally, 24, Rich, 18, Elizabeth, 15, and Kathleen, 13, with ex-wife Susie; Dee has two sons from her previous marriage to Gianni Ocleppo.

Toy Fair 2009: Four New Little People Playsets

Fisher-Price Fairy Treehouse and Rescue Ramps Fire Station

In addition to the four retro playsets introduced this January that commemorate Little People‘s fiftieth anniversary, Fisher-Price is also introducing four new contemporary-themed sets that will be available in July.

The Fairy Treehouse ($23) has multiple levels to explore. Push Fairy Sarah Lynn (she has wings!) in the buttercup swing, serve her lunch at the flower blossom table and chairs, open the tree trunk stable and feed the unicorn from the bin of berries, place Sarah Lynn in her saddle and go for a ride. After her fairy dust shower, put her to sleep in her nest bed. There’s even a removable tub with shower spout where Sarah Lynn can get a sprinkle of fairy dust! When it’s time for bed, place her inside the nest bed with leaf pillow.

The Rescue Ramps Fire Station ($23) is a multi-level command center with a flip-open garage door, helipad for emergency landings, upper-deck catwalk and cool ramp with lift-off lever that sends vehicles down to the next rescue mission. The set also includes a detailed fire truck with extendable, rotating ladder. Press down on the driver’s seat for realistic siren sound effects. The station has a removable ladder and built-in hydrant with detachable rubberized hose that also attaches to the fire truck’s ladder and front cab. Michael can hold the hose in his hand to fight fires, climb ladders and even sit at the control station inside the firehouse.

Happy Sounds Home

The two-level Happy Sounds Home ($35.50) includes a kitchen with a refrigerator that opens and closes, table, chairs and high chair, a living room with a ringing telephone, a bedroom with a bed for mom and dad and swinging bassinet for baby, a laundry room with a washer/dryer that makes sound effects, a bathroom with a tub that makes sounds and a toilet that makes flushing sounds. Best of all, it closes for storage and holds all of the pieces.

The Sing ‘n Learn Recycling Truck ($17.50) is truly a sign of the times, combining learning 1-10 and ABCs with a environmental message. Kids can drop the ten pieces shaped like recognizable recycling objects (paper, milk cartons, bottles, cans and boxes) in the slots on the truck and rewards kids as the truck counts or put them in the back door and listen to crunching sound effects.

Salma Hayek Puts the Squeeze on Valentina

Limelight

Check out that rock! Newlywed Salma Hayek — who wed French billionaire François-Henri Pinault on Valentine’s Day — keeps a firm grip on her daughter (and gives us a glimpse at her new sparkler!) while on a park playdate on Tuesday in Beverly Hills.

Valentina Paloma and Salma, 42, spent some time digging around in the sandbox before heading over to the slides, where the 17-month-old — shovel in hand! — enjoyed a few trips down with mom.
