Maggie Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard Accept Help — Reluctantly!

Janet Mayer/Splash News Online

In a joint interview with The Scotsman, actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard reveal their latest project together — Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, coming soon to a small off-Broadway theater. Their first project, the 2007 film High Falls, doesn’t hold fond memories for Maggie, who shot her scenes while seven months pregnant with the couple’s daughter Ramona, 2. “I didn’t have an artistic mind at that time,” she explains. “I hated the feeling of not having the energy to have a point of view.”

Ironically, it is Ramona — their most important project together! — who was first and foremost in their minds as they contemplated sharing the stage yet again. The couple have vowed previously to always have one parent at home while the other is on location, but after establishing a childcare team that includes a nanny, Peter’s parents, Maggie’s best friend and Maggie’s mom they were able to make it work. Adds Maggie,

“My mom kept saying, ‘Michelle Obama‘s mom is going to the White House with them. It’s fine.’”

Uncle Vanya runs through March 8th at the Classic Stage Company in New York City.

Ana Ortiz Expecting a Girl, Debuts Her Belly

Theo Wargo/WireImage

In her first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy, Ana Ortiz tried her best to make her burgeoning belly visible on Saturday while attending the Writers Guild Awards in NYC.

Sharing the news that she’s expecting a baby girl with husband Noah Lebenzon, Ana says the couple is trying to decide on names!

“This has been the biggest decision I’ve ever had to make. One day, I love a name, the next day, I hate it. There’s a short list … I’d love to incorporate both my grandmothers. One grandmother is Ramona, and it’s kind of one of my favorites.”

As for how her pregnancy is going, Ana explains, “I’ve heard lots of horror stories, but I’m actually really, really enjoying this! I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth, but since I’ve been pregnant, all I want is cake. She’s definitely given me a sweet tooth.”

Friend and co-star Rebecca Romijn, who plans to pass hand-me-downs on to Ana, has also been sharing tips and tricks.

“She’s given me all kinds of tips and pointers, especially in terms of how to keep my husband intimate,” Ana laughs. “She told me to get this pregnancy pillow that you sleep with. She said Jerry tends to call it ‘the husband blocker.’ So I’m like, ‘Is Jerry going to call up my husband now and commiserate with him?’”

The Ugly Betty actress, 37, expects her daughter in July.

Kate Winslet Loves Her Body, For Mia's Sake

Splash News Online

Actress Kate Winslet has never been shy about disrobing onscreen, and while much has been made of her comfort with nudity, she says that her motivation comes from an unlikely source — 8-year-old daughter Mia Honey. “I don’t know a single woman who doesn’t stand up and check the tushie before she walks out the door,” Kate tells Nightline. “I’ve decided I am going to start loving my backside, really just saying, yes.” She adds,

“Because I don’t know anyone who does that, you know? And for my daughter, I want to be able to say to her, I love this.”

While shooting The Reader, a performance which has garnered her an Oscar nomination, Kate was absent from the lives of Mia and her little brother Joe Alfie, 5, for several weeks — the longest she’s ever gone without her children. “In those moments of being away from them, you know, that was very new to me,” Kate explains. “And they were fine, of course. I was the one falling apart, going, ‘OK, I’ve unpacked my things, and now I don’t know what to do because I’m in a hotel room by myself, which I can’t remember what that feels like.’”

Calling her effort to maintain career and family a “massive juggle,” she says she often “jumps through hoops” to make it all work.

“I’m on a plane tonight. I’ll be home at five in the morning. And I will be on that school run tomorrow morning. I absolutely will be…It’s crucial for our kids that we are the key people in their life. And I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.”

Mia is Kate’s daughter with ex-husband Jim Threapleton; Joe is her son with husband Sam Mendes.

Sandra Bullock Has 'Family In Spades'

Courtesy InStyle

While many have waited and wondered whether Sandra Bullock will someday have a child of her own, the 44-year-old actress notes that together with husband Jesse James she has “family in spades” already. A step-mom to Jesse’s children Chandler, 14, Jesse Jr., 11, and Sunny, 5, Sandra tells the March issue of InStyle “everything we do is about the kids,” adding,

“My greatest joy is making our home what it’s supposed to be. Being a good wife, a good stepmom, a good current wife to the ex-wife. We’re a family.”

That’s not to say that Sandra has ruled out motherhood entirely – though she admits there was a time when she had. “I had shut that off…then I met Jesse, and it turned on again,” she explains. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s that feeling.’” The couple wanted “to take care of some other things on this planet first” before welcoming a child. “I hope to God when we get to a place where all is safe, calm, happy and healthy, it’s not too late,” Sandra adds. If it is, the couple are open to adoption.

“If I waited too long, it’s because we were supposed to do other things. If it is just too late? There are millions of children on this planet that I would be honored to call my own.”

Chandler, Jesse Jr. and Sunny are Jesse’s children from two previous marriages. He and Sandra were married in 2005.

Argus Bean 5.0 Digital Camera

I love the idea that kids can become interested in photography with something of their own, rather than a hand-me-down adult camera or a “toy” camera.  While appropriate for a toddler, the Argus Bean 5.0 Digital Camera ($60) also speaks to an older child developing an interest in photography. We tested this very durable camera with our four and six year old children, and we were very impressed. Read More

Andrew Firestone: Bachelor Baby Bump!

Ray Mickshaw/WireImage

It’s a Bachelor baby! Although he didn’t find lasting love with Jen Schefft back in 2003, Andrew Firestone‘s choice in ladies since has proven fruitful. He married wife Ivana Bozilovic Firestone last July, and the pair are currently expecting their first child.

They are pictured on January 28th, attending a premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. (Like her Gucci purse? “I had to get her a push present,” Andrew jokes.)

Expecting their baby in mid-April, the couple has chosen to wait for a delivery surprise. “We’ve decided that we’re not going to find out the sex of the baby. There’s very few surprises left … this will be our big life surprise,” explains Andrew, 33.

The current season of The Bachelor airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.
