Michelle Williams Not Ready to Work, Enjoys Time With Her Cowgirl

Sebastian/Splash News

The unforeseen heartache which surrounded Michelle Williams following the accidental death of Oscar-winning actor Heath Ledger — the one-year anniversary was on January 22nd – left the actress devastated and alone to raise their 3-year-old daughter Matilda Rose; The intense media craze that documented the single mom’s every move left a simply “burnt out” Michelle in need of a break from the spotlight.

“I’m coming back to my wits little by little. But ultimately, I am not yet ready to work. I’ve actually really been enjoying not working. I guess everybody enjoys that.”

Unable to “work through” it all, Michelle — having not made a movie since last May — instead has focused all her energy on raising Matilda, who despite her mother’s wishes for her to become a doctor, enjoys imagining herself as a real cowgirl. The city streets of Brooklyn may be a hard place for Matilda to imagine herself roping cattle, but Michelle would never consider trading their metropolitan lifestyle. Admitting she feels very “detached” from Hollywood, the actress says she “wouldn’t raise Matilda there.” She explains,

“For all the obvious reasons — being the daughter of…Being an actor’s daughter. It’s a town about one thing and I want her to have options.”

For now, Michelle says she is slowly picking up the pieces of her life as she contemplates her career, trading her celebrity status for “cooking, baking, cleaning, and sewing” with Matilda. With the pressure of movie roles constantly knocking at the door, the young mom is confident that her decision to concentrate on her daughter will leave her with no regrets. “As a young actress, you feel this intense pressure to work. Everybody says, ‘The time is now,’” she says. “But I can be 28 and take a year off. Hopefully there’ll still be something there to go back to.”

Her return to the screen, however, is not far off as Michelle fears that her life will eventually “end as a pile of dishes,” although admits that “the working mother thing is kind of a fallacy — it’s hard to do both things well.”

Boon Oval Animal Bag: New Life For Old Stuffed Animals

It seems like every time I see a product from Boon, I have one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?” moments. Boon’s Oval Animal Bag ($60) is a great storage solution for the stuffed animals that seem to multiply in the closet. Even the smallest version has a deceptively large capacity. We filled our bag with more than 25 animals of various sizes and still have room for more. When my son flops on the bean-bag-like chair, a couple of animals with sound effects are activated, making the Oval Animal Bag even more fun. Four zippered mesh panels make the animals visible (or maybe it’s so they can breathe) and the big zipper tabs are easy for 3-year-old Finn to unzip. The rest of the bag is made of very classy lime-green faux fur. I love bright colors in his room and how the Oval Animal Bag helps us keep it tidy.

Madonna Donates David's Duds to Malawian Orphanage

Piko Press/Splash News Online

Long after adopting her son David Banda from the African nation of Malawi, songstress Madonna is still focusing her efforts on helping the hundreds of children left behind; For the mom of three, donating her youngest boy’s boxes of clothes seemed the perfect solution.

A sure sign that 3-year-old David is thriving with his family, a source tells PEOPLE that the wardrobe Madonna initially bought for her son was packed away with the toddler having outgrown his outfits. “These are clothes David can no longer use; they say he is quite a big boy now so he cannot use most of the clothes Madonna bought him immediately after he was adopted,” the source reveals.

Shipping the boxes of dapper duds to David’s orphanage, Home of Hope — appropriately labeled ‘From David Ritchie to friends at Home of Hope’ — left the 500 orphans with quite a surprise! “The children were excited to see the clothes,” says the source. In addition to David’s clothes, books, and toys, the proud mama also included a few autographed copies of her own children’s book,  The English Roses.

While the director of the orphanage has not confirmed that the packages are from Madonna and David — “we have lots of friends across the globe who send us stuff from time to time” — the 50-year-old singer has dedicated her resources to assisting six Malawi orphanages through her charity Raising Malawi.

Honor Warren's Paparazzi Pout

Limelight

We couldn’t help but chuckle at this photo of Jessica Alba and daughter Honor Marie — looks like the 8-month-old has mom’s paparazzi death stare down pat!

Although the twosome is usually photographed in a much better mood, we think they’d had enough of the snappers while out shopping in Beverly Hills on Friday.

Dad is producer Cash Warren, whom Jessica, 27, wed last May.

Toy Fair 2009: Playmobil Pyramid and Suburban Family House

Playmobil Pyramid

You may recall Playmobil‘s Circus Ring ($80) from Christmas. Well, we saw what’s going to be their big play set for Christmas 2009 and it’s pretty awesome. The Pyramid ($105) has cool features like a collapsible staircase, trapdoors, secret chambers, slides and removable walls. There will also be an Egyptian Chariot and Royal Ship as well as grave robbers!

We also like the new Suburban Family House ($154) that has tiltable attic windows, a garden and working doorbell and grill!

Both sets will be available in August.
