Parenthood is the Best Job Mayim Bialik Has Ever Had

Acting may be what many people know Mayim Bialik for, but what she considers her role as mom to her sons Miles, 3, and Frederick ‘Fred’ Heschel, 6 months, t0 be her most important. “I come from a pretty traditional family so being a parent has always been something I knew I wanted to do,” shares Mayim, who admits that while “I was never a baby crazy person” she and husband Michael Stone “are very dedicated to our kids.”
The couple “love being parents. It’s an incredible responsibility and it’s incredibly challenging but it’s the best job we’ve ever had.” However, Mayim admits that it’s “been very, very humbling” especially since “you get a lot of perspective when you’re doing things at six in the morning other than sleeping.” The former Blossom star considers parenthood to be “a very different kind of job, a different kind of pay, and different kind of training. But, honestly, for those of us that happen to really, really like being parents, it is the best job I ever had.”
“This absolutely fulfills what I feel my purpose is in life, which is to create a generation of sensitive, wonderful people. And at least I’ll do it with two of them and see how I do.”
While Mayim loves her job as a parent and is “mainly working on growing [Fred]” at the moment, she is beginning to feel the itch to perform again. “I just started going in to audition for stuff, which is exciting. I’m getting on my feet after the baby,” she explains. The 33-year-old has performed in comedies and dramas and is “not terribly picky, meaning I’m happy to do television, I’m happy to do film, and I’m happy to do whatever … I’m just getting back into that world and balancing everything.”
