Isla Fisher Enjoys Being a Full-Time Mom

Although she’s out and about promoting her new film Confessions of a Shopaholic, Isla Fisher says it’s her role as mom to 15 ½-month-old Olive that continues to take up the majority of her time. “I haven’t worked for nine months except doing voice-overs for an animated film with Johnny Depp,” the 33-year-old actress explains to PARADE. “I’m still getting to be a full-time mother.” That means it is Isla who has the pleasure — or pain, depending on your perspective! — of escorting Olive to her doctor’s appointments. On the day of the interview, Isla had just returned from one such visit and revealed that her daughter behaved admirably given the circumstances.

“Olive was getting a shot. She didn’t cry, only gave out a sort of squeal. But I’d brought along a squeaky toy as a reward for being brave, and that made her very happy.”

Olive is Isla’s daughter with fiancé Sacha Baron Cohen; Confessions of a Shopaholic is in theaters Friday.

I love Olive and Isla. I think they’re the cutest mother and daughter. Does anybody knows why we never see them with Sacha? I think about that every time I see a pic of them.

Lourdes- From what I’ve heard, Sacha tries to avoid the cameras as his characters (e.g. Borat) wouldn’t be nearly as believable if he became to recognizable.

Often times, especially here, i have to keep reminding myself that she’s not a single parent. Even tough Sasha may avoid the cameras for his character’s sake, she does not mention him much in interviews like this except to dispel rumors that her and Sasha are broken up or something like that. Nothing about him and Olive.

In this picture, I think I finally see how much Olive (thankfully) resembles her mother! Not that Sacha isn’t cute, but I think it’d be hard to pull off as a woman. What a sweet smile.

I suspect she doesn’t talk about him much because she wants to keep her private life to herself. Perhaps he prefers to stay home and watch her and she prefers to go out with her. We don’t know the details. All we know is that the baby seems happy, the mother seems happy and (when we see him), the father seems happy. That seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I have to say I don’t understand why people are so fixated on their relationship. They have been together almost seven years now, clearly they are solid. I am more concerned about the Heidi and Spencers of the world who pimp out their relationship to the highest bidder. Isla and Sacha seem geniune.

Anyhow, cute story about Olive getting a shot. I always hate bringing my boys for theirs.

I don’t know why people feel it’s necessary for Isla to announce to the world that Olive spends time with her dad. Who cares if we don’t see it? The only pictures we ever see of Olive to begin with are ones with Isla during the day, and that could very well be when Sacha is working.

It’s been said multiple times that Sacha is an extremely private person who only gives interviews in character-theory being (and many actors, including Michelle Williams, say the same) that the more the public knows about him, the harder it is to be believable in his roles. Isla always mentions how in love she is with Sacha and Olive in interviews-she just doesn’t expand further to reveal the private information we’re so accustomed to here. While I definitely love to hear how my favorite celebs’ families are doing, so many of them lament the lack of privacy only to reveal completely intimate information. Bravo to Isla for being one of the few who practices what she preaches-and her baby is beautiful.

my friend was in new york last week and saw isla and sacha at will ferell’s comedy show. apparently people were approaching him for pictures (refering to him as the borat guy) and he kept saying the he doesn’t do that, politely but firmly.

I think if Isla wants to keep her private life private, she should stop using her daughter as a topic in interviews. She really can’t have it both ways. Look at Ben and Jenn who hid Violet when she was first born then started talking about her in every interview. Now the little girl gets her picture taken everyday. Celebrities who want to keep their children out of the public eye have to work hard to do so. Christian Bale is very secretive and we rarely see his daughter’s pictures.

maybe Isla likes the attention and goes to parks or places she knows the paparazzi will be while Sacha spends time with his daughter in private? we don’t know about their private lives, they should be private! I do say however I have seen more photos of Olive with her nanny lately so Isla’s comment about being a full time Mom seems a little odd!
