Soft Star Shoes Dakota Boots: These Boots Were Made for Walking… in Snow!
![]() |
When a four-year-old is making a point of talking about how “comfy” his boots are, you know you have a great pair on your hands… er… feet! Soft Star Shoes’ Dakota boots (starting at $82) are the comfy boots in question and they’re proving to be some of the best winter gear at our front door this year.
Comfort aside — and we mamas know that comfort is a big deal when it comes to convincing our kids to wear winter boots — the Dakota boots are super-stylish and incredibly functional. My son has been wearing them daily in the snow (and everywhere else, too) and his feet are always warm and dry when we come inside.
They’re completely lined with sheepskin, they have flexible rubber soles, and they’re handcrafted in the US from formaldehyde-free leathers. The side zipper makes them really easy for my son to put on, too.
I find they’re a little bit slippery on smooth, icy surfaces, but they’re excellent for most everyday wear and extensive snow play. (And we’re in Canada, so trust me… we know snow!)
