Actress/singer Renee Elise Goldsberry and her husband, attorney Alexis Johnson, are expecting a baby boy this spring, reports Soap Opera Digest. She is believed to be approximately six months along in the pregnancy. This is especially welcome news for the couple, as a prior pregnancy ended in miscarriage in 2005.

Renee, 38, appeared as Evangeline Williamson on the daytime serial One Life to Live from 2003 until 2007. Known for her work on Broadway as well, Renee originated the role of Nettie in The Color of Purple, played Nala in The Lion King and most recently Mimi in the final run of Rent.

I’m so happy for her because I think she’s had more than one miscarriage.

I am so thrilled to read this news of Renee’s pregnancy!!! I lost a baby in 2005 around the same time she did and I just felt a kinship with her. I finally became a Mom in 2007 and I continued to hope that she would be blessed. Congratulations to Renee and Alexis!! I wish them nothing but the best.
