Dierks Bentley: 'Every Day is Uncharted Waters'

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Country star Dierks Bentley knew that he and wife Cassidy “were ready” for parenthood when daughter Evalyn “Evie” Day made her appearance 3 ½ months ago thanks to his friends being parents. “I had so many friends who are younger than me who had already started this thing, so I felt like I was missing all the fun,” shares the 33-year-old, but he is quick to point out that while “all the cliches are true” about being a parent, “the one thing that’s not is when people say, ‘Oh, you’re settling down.’ It’s really the opposite. Every day is uncharted waters.”

No matter what parenthood throws at Dierks though, welcoming Evie into his life has “been amazing.”

The cool thing was we were able to come [to Arizona] for the longest stretch of time I’ve been home, for more than two weeks. So the grandparents had some quality time with her, and it was a great first Christmas. [Evie] came out to her first gig last night, in Austin. She didn’t come to the show, but she was in the bus.”

Dierks’ new album, Feel That Fire, is available now. Meet Evie here!

I think that is really cool. A lot of country guys became dads in 2008, Keith Urban, Joe Don Rooney, Josh Gracin, and more. I think Dierk is an awesome dad and will keep being an awesome dad!
