2005 Indianapolis 500 champion Dan Wheldon had the best time of his life on Sunday, February 1st, but not because of the Super Bowl — he and wife Susie welcomed their first child two weeks ahead of schedule at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Son Sebastian Daniel weighed in at 6 lbs, 12 oz and “the entire experience just blew my mind,” said Dan. Helping share in the experience with the 30-year-old were his parents who had flown in from England and were able to meet their grandson immediately after his arrival.
“It’s one of those things that, until you experience it, you’ll never be able to put into words how great the feeling is. The first time I saw the little baby, and I’ve just met him, I was amazed by the amount of love you can feel for one human being at that moment.”
Dan will join Panther Racing on February 24th for the first open test at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He and Susie announced the pregnancy in September.
