Tisha Campbell-Martin is two months pregnant with her second child, her rep confirms. “She just found out and is so excited!” Tichina Arnold, Tisha’s best friend and former Martin co-star, tells Us Weekly.

Tisha, 40, and husband Duane Martin are already parents to son Xen, 7 ½. The couple — who have been married for 12 years — are hoping for a girl, Tichina shares.

“She hopes to have a girl this time, and has said she would love to name her Derek. She has been wanting a girl for almost six years. Everybody is so excited!”

Tisha currently appears on Rita Rocks and Everybody Hates Chris.

OMG
Im so happy about it! You dont know how much I love this woman! Her work in `My wife and kids` is memorable! I cant stop watching it! She is so good looking and I am sure she will be a great mom

I was just checking this site ocasionally and saw this news! I would never expect it!

Good luck for her

- Sexii Mamii on

Good luck to her…

I love her on my wife and kids…she is so funny!!

- XOXO on

Congrats! That’s very exciting news! Not sure about the Derek part, but I hope she enjoys a healthy and happy pregnancy! :D

- jasmine on

Derek??!! For the baby’s sake, I hope they have a boy!

- Maria on

She wants a little girl so she can name her DEREK?! Am I the only one who finds this a bit odd?

- Mom to be on

I hope this pregnancy goes better than the last one for her. I remember reading that she was on bedrest for 8 months when she was pregnant with Xen.

- Gracie on

God I love this woman on My wife and kids. Wish her all the best!!

- Jade on

I am genuinely thrilled about this for her! Have loved her since all the way back when she was on ‘Rags to Riches’. Congrats!

- Dee on

Tisha is hilarious and I’m happy for her. But lets hope this “Derek” thing is just a phase. lol. That name is no good for a girl.

- Erica on

It’s one thing to privately want a certain sex (of course after first coving all basing in saying you want a healthy baby lol) but to be so public about it so unnecessary!! Keep that to yourself there is a good chance it will be a boy! lol then she can name him Jenna or Nicole lol hehe

- Heather on

I hope she gets her girl. I for one think the name Derek is cute for a girl. I love boy names for girls!

- Emily on

I am EXTREMLY sensitive to people being so vocal about wanting a certin gender. I remember in the midst of infertility that a child wanted is a child wanted no matter what the gender. I just wanted a child.

I am very very very happy for her, It sounds like she has wanted this for a long time (provided its a girl).

- krewcat on

2 months pregnant at 40 and announcing it? i wish her all the best but I wouldn’t be so vocal until I was further along. Not to mention that it sounds like she has been trying for awhile…yikes.

- mary on

She likely already knows that it is a girl. :)

- HeatherR on

WOW!! It seems like no one can just say “Congratulations” anymore. A comment must be made about the announcement, the fact the individual has hope for one gender over the other, and the baby’s name must be dragged over the coals. IMO. Congratulations to the Mommy to be!!!!

- kind stranger on

Congrats! I agree Kind Stranger, I don’t get the personal offence wih people regarding gender wishing. It’s not like people are saying they will do something terrible if they have a gender they dont want. Relax.

- J on

Congrats to her, she was so funny on martin and my wife and kids. Her son has autism I remember hearing about. Derek for a girl is not cute, but to each is own. I wouldn’t announce a pregnancy until past 4 months though , especially not to the public because god forbid you never know what could happen. I’m a very superstitious type person though in general.

- Gianna on

I would have NEVER thought of Derek as a name for a girl, but once I think about it I guess it would be cute in a different way.

- simms on

I agree with Kind Stranger….why do people get up in arms over someone stating that they are hoping for a boy or girl? I wanted a little girl so badly when were trying to adopt….especially since I knew that it would be my only child. At the sonogram, when we found out that it was a boy, I was disappointed. It was about 30 minutes later that it it hit me….what is wrong with you? You’re going to be a Mommy!!! How dare you feel sad because it’s not a girl. Months later, when they put my son in my arms, everything else was forgotten and I fell in love with my little boy. I am sure that most people who have strong feelings of wanting a certain gender, feel the same way once the child is born.

- CTBmom on

Very happy for them. I do hope you get your little girl. People want what they want. If it’s a boy, you will love it to no end.
God Bless your family. I have always love your acting. You are a very funny woman. Not a soul could touch you being Gina.

- HAGANS on

CONGRATS TISHA!!!!! I also agree with Kind Stranger. Who cares what she wants to name her baby it’s her and her husbands choice! And so what if she wants a girl! I have 2 daughters and we are trying for baby #3 and guess what we want a boy!!!!! It’s not like I am going to hate my child because it isn’t the gender I want. I will be happy with whatever I am given as long as it is healthy. And I can say I am pretty damn sure she feels the same way! People are way to critical of other people and honestly it is ridiculous. I mean there are so many more worse names out there for that Celebs pick out but so what! Just let the poor woman alone.

- Amanda on

I agree. I think it is perfectly normal and HONEST to have a preference. My goodness, she was just making a comment; and I never took from that comment that if they baby is a boy it is not a “baby wanted”.

On the other hand, DEREK? Yikes.

- Lis on

Congrats to Tisha & Duane!!
I love her in Martin & My wife & kids! She’s awesome!!!
I hope she has a healthy pregnancy!!!

Not so sure on the name Derek for a girl. IMO, just not that into unisex names. But Derek is a LOT better than some other celebrity baby names! lol

- Jae on

Congratulations and Best Wishes!

However, it is unfortunate that if it is a girl, she will give it a boy’s name.

- Pamela on

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that she probably already knows the sex? I just don’t see how she could be so vocal without already knowing. Sort of like Charlie Sheen saying he’d love a son, and then what do ya know, he’s got two!

- isis on

gianna-

right after that rumor abt xen being autistic came out, both tisha and duane immediately denied it… but we NEVER see xen… EVER… so i guess no one really knows if it’s true…

but for a LONG time it was rumored tisha and duane were separating and divorcing, and clearly, that’s not so much…

on another note… u ppl… why can’t that lady WANT a girl…

i WANT a million dollars… if i don’t get it i’m not gonna OFF myself, nor am i gonna take the money i AM making and say to my boss… PISS OFF… if it’s not a million i don’t want ANY of it…

ugh… U PPL ARE BUGGING!!!

- fay on

Guess what? If Tisha and Duane name their daughter, “Derek” it won’t be a boy’s name anymore. It’ll be their girl’s name. Names like Ashley, Morgan, Tyler, and Leslie were formerly boys’ names and now we consider them perfectly fine for both sexes. There’s nothing wrong with being ahead of the curve!

- SweetDiva on

Wow, I don’t understand all of the questioning comments. She’s pregnant. It’s wonderful! Why can’t we all just be happy for her? It’s as though so many people’s immediate reaction is to attack the poor woman. Perhaps some of you didn’t notice that it is her friend who shared that she wants a girl, and that she would want to name her Derek. For all we know, she may not have wanted for that to be shared. It may not even be completely true. Give her a break and just be happy!

- Morgan on

Congrats to her!

I think alot of the comments about expressing gender preferences comes from so many cases of parents neglecting a child and favouring the other. I had many friends like that and even my mom has said we would get along better if I were a boy and with each of my pregnancies said “this one better be a boy” (I have two girls and am expecting a third child). So I understand why people express concern when hearing this.

It’s like when Charlie Sheen went on and on about having a boy when his divorce papers stated he berate Denise Richards because Lola was a girl. People remember these tidbits and express feelings. However, Tisha herself has never said anything @ all, those comments came from a friend so it’s not like she has said “I want a girl!” a friend has said this for her, so perhaps we should all reserve our comments in this case until Tisha herself comments.

- Mary-Helen on

If it’s a girl spell Derek this way. (Derrick)This will be cute. Good Luck Tisha I love you!!!!

- Elone on

Are maybe Deyric.

- Elone on

I’m happy for her. Good luck to her and Duane! :)

- FC on

First off congrats to Tisha and Duane cause I know they wanted another child for awhile. I remember her saying that she had a difficult pregnancy with Xen and that her husband really wanted to have another baby because they both would love a daughter someday as well. I too hope that they get their wish. And I also don’t see any big deal in them saying they’d like to have a girl. It’s not like they said, “it just has to be a girl!” I’m not having kids yet but after 3 nephews and being a nanny to a little boy and a little girl I can def. say I’d take a girl any day over a boy! However if I was blessed with a son I’d be just fine with it but why is it so wrong for me to want a daughter?

That being said, “Derek” eeeek! Maybe they’ll find another name b4 then!

- JM on

happy for them, there’s nothing wrong with wanting a particular sex for your baby especially if you already have a boy and want the next one to be a girl. i hope she changes her mind about derek for a girl though, lol.

- jessie on

I love the both of them he-All of Us; she-Martin and My wife. I have a girlfriend who has three girls: Blayke, Evyn and Michael, so I say, go for it! Sistergirl

- chris on

Makes me think of Bo Derek…….

- anna on

Chris, I love your comment. My sister has a trick that she plays with new friends that join their group of friends. Pick the girls of the group. Krystofer, Evan, Tere (and I forget the other 2 names). The girls are Krystofer, Evan and Tere and the other names are usually thought of as girls names/unisex names. (My sister’s name is Krystofer Alicia, shortened to Krysti). My mom wanted a boy and picked out the name Krystofer beore she was born, when she came out a girl, it was still Krystofer.

I personally think Derek is kindof cute for a girl. At least she won’t meet many other female Derek’s in school. (My name’s Sarah and there were 4 of us in one of my classes in high school! Really annoying after a while.)

- pippi777 on

Being pregnant is the most exciting moment in a persons life, who wants to keep it a secret! I never understood that! Naming your child is something special, why not want to share your happiness! People are so negative, just give her and her family your blessing!

- Kim on

Congrats! And guess what, she’s famous so you guys will most likely never have to see or speak to her kid so it doesn’t matter is she names her Derick, Stanley or Christmas! Who cares!!!!
