Scott Baio On His 'Delicious' Daughter

Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage

During a Wednesday appearance on The Rachael Ray Show, actor Scott Baio opened up about the scary medical ordeal he and wife Renee endured following the birth of their 14 ½-month-old daughter Bailey DeLuca. “It’s just one of those things,” the 47-year-old actor explained. “But she was falsely diagnosed [with Glutaric Acidemia Type 1 or GA1] for a reason.” That reason — as far as the Baios are concerned — is to help others through the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation, which among other things raises funds for families dealing with children diagnosed with metabolic disorders. “It’s the least we can do,” Scott said. “We’re lucky.”

“I can’t imagine not seeing my daughter every day. The only word I have to describe her is delicious.”

Bailey made a brief appearance during the taping, showing off her new-found walking skills. “She just started a couple of weeks ago,” Scott revealed. The proud papa said that when it comes to his daughter’s future, he hopes that in at least one aspect the apple will fall far from the tree. “I would probably discourage her from pursuing a career in showbiz,” he said.

“[There is] a lot of using and a lot of manipulation, and knowing now what I know, I would not want to see her go through all the stuff I went through and stuff I’ve seen other people go through.”

Actor Chad Lowe and his girlfriend, producer Kim Painter, are expecting their first child together! According to Entertainment Tonight, the 41-year-old and his partner will welcome their daughter in May. In a statement to PEOPLE, Chad’s rep says,

“Kim Painter and Chad Lowe announced today that they are expecting a baby in early summer. The couple is overjoyed and could not be happier.”

Talking to Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush, the proud soon-to-be papa recalled the early morning “sweet” moment when Kim spilled the exciting news. “She has to go to work in the morning very early. Despite ET‘s reporting that the couple are expecting a baby girl, Chad says, as of now, the only ones in the know are the doctors! “There is a negotiation going on right now with Kim and I. I definitely want to know and she is much more interested in allowing it to be a surprise,” he reveals.

Paul Bettany Wants to Be a Cool Dad

James Devaney/WireImage

Actor Paul Bettany was looking for a lighter film and something that sons Kai, 11, and Stellan, 5, would be able to watch, so he felt it kismet that he would be reading the script for Inkheart at the same time Kai was reading it. “I wanted to make a movie, finally, that my children can see. I mean, they’ve been on set with me when I’ve made a lot of movies, but none I would let them see at this point,” notes Paul. He adds, “I wanted it to be an intelligent kids movie. And I found one — and my son happened to be reading the novel at the same time, so it all kind of worked out for us.” The book “had been recommended by someone at [Kai's] school” and since he was reading, Paul “thought, in an entirely cynical way, I would make him think I was really cool” if he took on the role.

The 37-year-old may not have had to take on the role though, because thanks to his part in the film Iron Man, Kai already thinks he is cool.

“Yeah, that was annoying how cool he thought that was. Everything else I’ve done, but ‘Dad, you were the voice of Iron Man!’ … That’s a whole other genre of movie. I’ve done enough of that.”

Paul is married to actress Jennifer Connelly. Kai’s father is photographer David Dugan.
