Pete Wentz Says Inauguration Was Too Cold For Bronx

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, 24, was a notable no-show at the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Tuesday, but as a new mom to 9-week-old Bronx Mowgli her absence was certainly understandable! Husband Pete Wentz, 29, made the trip to Washington, D.C., however, and revealed that the couple’s son was first and foremost in his thoughts on such a historic occasion. “I think I’ll explain it to him many years from now and maybe he’ll believe his dad was here,” Pete said. As for the decision to leave Ashlee and Bronx behind in California? Pete adds,

“We decided we didn’t want to turn him into an ice cube quite yet. It’s a little cold here.”

The first-time dad and Fall Out Boy bassist hopefully made the most of his time away from baby by catching up on some much needed rest. When asked about the dreaded sleep-deprivation of life with a newborn, he replied “Come on, would we be sleeping only eight weeks in?”

Brendan Fraser's Sons Show Favoritism Towards Sponge Bob

While Brendan Fraser may have swooning fans rushing to see his movies on the big screen, the actor admits that his three sons – Griffin Arthur, 6, Holden Fletcher, 4, and Leland Francis, 2 ½ — aren’t the least bit impressed by his celebrity status! Despite the proud papa’s strategy to tell his kids he “defeats bad guys,” Brendan laughs that, these days, “to tell you the truth,” they are captivated by none other than Sponge Bob Squarepants. However, the 40-year-old holds no hard feelings for the obvious favoritism shown by his sons, revealing he himself has nothing but respect for the character. “Now wait a minute, don’t be banging on Sponge Bob. He may wear square pants, but he lives in a pineapple under the sea,” teases Brendan, who notes that, in his favor, his children’s lack of interest in his job may be attributed to the fact that they “have seen very few of the films I’ve been in. I don’t know if they understand or are really interested in what I do.”

The threesome aren’t completely unaware of Brendan’s movies however, as he admits that they managed to catch a few commercials of Journey “in between Sponge Bob.” Their curiosity was short-lived, however, as Brendan explains that their attention was quickly drawn to the following toy advertisement.

“They were showing product placement and advertising campaigns for Batman products. So they were like, ‘Buy me that! Buy me that!’ ‘Yeah, pal, I’ll take care of that.’ ‘Buy me that!’ ‘I’ll do that, alright?’ ‘Buy me that!’”

Although Brendan’s list of costars may be impressive to most, the actor jokes that his boys show no interest in rubbing elbows with the stars, unless of course he is featured in a Sponge Bob film! “I think if I do do that and they learn that I was and I didn’t introduce them to Sponge Bob, they’ll probably never speak to me again.”

The boys are Brendan’s with estranged wife Afton Smith.
