Alison Sweeney at Ease in Hospital Bed for Megan's Arrival

Stefanie Keenan/Wireimage

Fans of Alison Sweeney‘s Days of Our Lives character Sami know that she is often found in a hospital bed for one reason or another! When it came time for her and husband Dave Sanov to welcome daughter Megan Hope two weeks ago, it only seemed fitting that Alison was perfectly at ease. “While we were waiting for Megan’s arrival, Dave, my best friend Carrie and I were talking about work stuff quietly and I had the instinct to warn them to watch what they say because the ‘boom is on,’” jokes Alison. “They both couldn’t stop cracking up that I’m so comfortable in a hospital bed that I thought I was on the Days stage.”

The name Megan Hope was a hit with many CBB readers and while some may believe that the middle name came from the Days of Our Lives set, that is not the case, Alison explains.

“We decided on Megan Hope because Dave and I both loved the name Megan, and while the name Hope has such significant meaning at Days and in daytime, we chose the name to honor my mom and my grandmother.”

Alison and Dave are also parents to 3 ½-year-old son Benjamin Edward.

Mommy's Little Breastfeeding Book: 101 Tips Your Baby Wants You to Know About Nursing

When my daughter was born and wouldn’t latch on to my breast for the first ten days of her life I felt very helpless and alone. I had no idea that breastfeeding would be this difficult, had no one in my immediate circle who was able to help me figure things out and had no time to read a book. I eventually sought out the help of a lactation consultant and La Leche League but I wish I had Mommy’s Little Breastfeeding Book: 101 Tips Your Baby Wants You to Know About Nursing by Michele Leigh Carnesecca, RN, IBCLC in my hands. Mira Sorvino on the 'Terrible Conflict' of Working Motherhood

Danielle K/Scott A/Bauer Griffin

The role of an adventurer and action hero who also happens to be a mom was too good to pass up for Mira Sorvino. The 41-year-old actress and mom of two signed on to NBC’s The Last Templar because she could so easily identify with the plight of her character, Tess Chaykin. “I think I find in my own life, it’s a terrible conflict, when you have children, to leave them for any length of time to go to work,” Mira explains. “I never actually leave my children…They always come with me.” She adds,

“But I still despair at walking away from them for a long day of work. I try and make their lives as educational and fun and as close to me as possible whenever I’m working. So it’s a real balancing act.”

Mira and her husband Christopher Backus are parents to Mattea Angel, 4, and Johnny Christopher King, 2 ½.

Sound Off! How Do You Prepare for a Second Child of the Opposite Sex?

Seth Browarnik/Startraks; George Napolitano/FilmMagic

It’s a dilemma many second-time parents face: With a child of one sex already in the family, how do you prepare for a second child of the opposite sex? As we all know, baby gear is pricey, and there’s a limit to how many items you want to buy all over again in a more masculine or feminine style or color. Trista and Ryan Sutter, parents to 18-month-old son Max Alston, are preparing for their new baby girl with a “sprinkle” (a mini-shower) while Gilbert Gottfried and wife Dara are readying themselves for their new baby boy (the pair is already parents to daughter Lily Aster, 19 months) by reusing many of their daughter’s items, adding some blue bedding and accessories into the mix.

So here’s your chance to Sound Off! How did you prepare for your second child of the opposite sex?
