Nick Jr's Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! A Tale of Tails: We Got a Kickity Kick Out of This One!

A friend with three boys told me that all I needed to do to entertain my 3-year-old son Finn was shout icky words. Yep. While driving I shout “GOOOOPY!”  “YUUUUCKY!” “STIIIIIICKY!” while he dissolves in laughter in his carseat. This technique is skillfully employed by Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, who refers to his “Koooky” tail and his “Kickity Kick Ball” and a “Whammer Hammer.” He had Finn at “Waaacky!” Simple pleasures, I suppose.

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! A Tale of Tails ($16.99) is a DVD complete with big, steamy machines, flying spaceships, a funny French chef, espionage and a car race. The art style is colorful and simple and the music’s cute. I even found myself humming the theme song during those rare moments when I had no kids in the car.

My one nitpick: I really wish kids’ programs were more meticulous about grammar. In the DVD Widget says, “I got it! I got it! I don’t got it.” Finn’s a mynah bird right now and it made me cringe.

While there are more cerebral DVDs on the market, Finn dropped his toys and sat mesmerized for a long time for this one. He didn’t convulse with laughter like he sometimes does for Curious George but he did say the DVD was “COOOOL.” Also, it’s a good value with 92 minutes of content. This would be a good one to play in the car’s DVD player as it goes forever without parents having to crane around and reset it.

Pros: Colorful and entertaining content is a good value
Cons: I wish kids’ DVDs were more meticulous about grammar, though I only heard one problem.

I love Wubbzy! My two year-old daughter has also been in love with Wubbzy for a very long time. It is the only cartoon that she will watch. Wubbzy has managed to make her happy even during her crankiest days. Thank goodness for the new dvds.

my kids got this dvd for christmas, and we love wubbzy!

i’m very big on grammar/spelling though, too, VERY big… i cannot STAND improper grammar. i don’t do much cartoon-watching though, so i’m a little annoyed to hear of this now~ i certainly don’t need cartoons canceling out schooling and all the work i’ll be putting into teaching grammar.

Grammar drives me crazy too! That’s why a lot of cartoons are out in my house. Thank you for including this information!
