Baby on the Way for Chad Lowe

Actor Chad Lowe and his girlfriend, producer Kim Painter, are expecting their first child together! According to Entertainment Tonight, the 41-year-old and his partner will welcome their daughter in May. In a statement to PEOPLE, Chad’s rep says,

“Kim Painter and Chad Lowe announced today that they are expecting a baby in early summer. The couple is overjoyed and could not be happier.”

Talking to Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush, the proud soon-to-be papa recalled the early morning “sweet” moment when Kim spilled the exciting news. “She has to go to work in the morning very early. She woke up with a big smile on her face and I knew exactly what that meant.” Upon sharing the news with their family and friends, Chad explains that the advice for the first-time parents has been pouring in, but laughs that a constant tip seems to be to ”get a lot of sleep while I can.”

Despite ET‘s reporting that the couple are expecting a baby girl, Chad says, as of now, the only ones in the know are the doctors! “There is a negotiation going on right now with Kim and I. I definitely want to know and she is much more interested in allowing it to be a surprise,” he reveals.

Chad, a television actor, won an Emmy for his role in Life Goes On and also appeared in hit shows including 24, ER, andMelrose Place. Chad and Kim began dating in January 2007.

Oh my goodness-I wonder how Hilary feels about this? She used to say Chad was itching to be a dad since they married but for years she felt she was too young (one of the occasional disadvantages of marrying someone older, I guess). Glad he finally got his wish.

Don’t know what this story breaking has to do with Hilary, other than the fact that she is Chad’s ex. She pretty much blasted him in Vanity Fair and has obviously moved on.

Congrats, but I still think that his soul mate was Hilary Swank. And if I am not mistaken weren’t they divorced Nov 2007 and yet he was dating the new one in January 2007… Hmmmm

Congrats to Chad and Kim. I remember Rob Lowe has 2 sons;so that will be wonderful for a baby girl in the family!! I remember both of them in “Oxford Blues”.. An ‘oldie.. Both Chad and Rob are extremely handsome!!

Congrats! Yes Rob Lowe especially, and his brother are very good looking. That baby will be beautiful I’m sure.

I don’t really see what the big deal is if he was dating someone in early 2007 but yet his divorce wasn’t finalized until later that year. Personally him/his ex-wife were separated, just they were still legally joined. A piece of paper doesn’t make/break a marriage-the people in the relationship does.

I’m so happy for Chad and Kim! I do hope they’ll marry before the baby is born but then, again, I’m old fashioned. I’m especially happy for Chad because he was so heartbroken when he and Hillary Swank divorced. Hillary fell into the trap so many of today’s women have fallen into: Putting her work before her marriage. Had she been more of a wife to Chad, and had she had a baby, then perhaps they wouldn’t have divorced, though I know a baby is not a guarantee for a happy marriage. I only say Hillary was more concerned with her work than with her man. Yes, she got 2 Academy Awards and she is a good actress but her husband should have come before any statue or any career. As I said, I’m old-fashioned…
