Tina Fey Credits Daughter In Acceptance Speech

While accepting the honor for best actress in a comedy at last night’s Screen Actors Guild awards Tina Fey said that in her family, it is 3-year-old Alice Zenobia who provides the humor. Thanking her daughter for coining phrases like “I want to go to there,” the 38-year-old actress went on to reveal that Alice likes to apply pretend makeup and proclaim “I look like Barack Obama.” She added,

“[Alice] has somehow gotten it into her head that it’s a good thing to resemble a famous politician. I don’t know where she got that idea, but it is a little stroke of good luck when it happens.”

Tina also expressed gratitude to Alice for her patience. “Some day she’ll be old enough to watch 30 Rock reruns on the Internet and she’ll understand where mommy was going at 6 a.m. every day for all that time and she’ll look up at me and say, ‘What do you mean you don’t get residuals for this?” Tina joked. “I love you Alice, take care of me when I’m old and broke!”

Alice is the first child for Tina and husband Jeff Richmond.

I saw her speech, it was hilarious. How can you not be funny when you have Tina Fey as a mom?

i missed the ENTIRE sag awards… i’m such a loser…

whenever my friends tell me abt new restaurants or post food pics on their facebook pages, i ALWAYS type… “i want to go to there” lol 30 weeks of pregnancy makes one AWFUL hungry… lol

i usually give tina the credit, now i’ll have to start giving alice the notation… (smile)

oh & she’s so cute… i can’t wait to see her and archie when they get older…

OMG FAY you and I are on the same boat – I can’t see a resturant commerical without saying ” I want to go to there”! I am 22 weeks pregnant and starving ALL of the time.

I saw her speech it was so funny! I love Tina! And the Barrak Obama thing was so cute.

This was the funniest speech, I just love Tina. I hope my boys take care of me when I’m old and broke too! :) :)

Something About Baby on

Little Alice is adorable and she must keep her funny mommy laughing all the time.

I lost all respect for this woman after her unprofessional remarks during the elections. I do like her baby’s hat though!

Tina never fails to crack me up! :)

Terri – What unprofessional comments? She’s a comedienne, so isn’t it her job to poke fun at people in the public eye?

I really enjoyed her speech! It was so funny when she said that her daughter puts on make-up and then announces “I look like Barack Obama!”. I bet Tina is a really fun mom, and her daughter will probably have her sense of humour.

I don’t mean to start rumours or bring up a sensitive issue, but are Tina and her husband separated? I don’t know much about her, but I noticed it seemed like she was alone at the awards and didn’t mention a spouse in her speech, so I just wondered when I heard her mention the daughter.

Tina Fey is awesome. The last sentence of her speech where she says “I love you Alice. Take care of me when I’m old and broke” is priceless. My 9 year-old came up to me the other day and said “when i win the lottery, i’ll give the money so i can take care of myself, and you can do the same.”

am i the only one that thinks her stories about Alice are a bit annoying? Its always Alice wants to look like Obama, or Alice watches Psycho…poor Alice is barely 3 and already she has to come across as quirky, cool and hilarious…ie mommy’s perfect accessory.

Fevvers- Do you have friends with small children? All three year olds are quirky, cool, and hilarious it seems :D

Kristen- The awards are in LA and she mainly lives in New York, maybe he stayed in NY with Alice? She thanked her husband and said I love you during her Golden Globes speech. My guess is she’s won so many times she forgot a few people from time to time, haha.

Stephanie, fair call.

Actually I have a 3yr old myself. I am also a Tina Fey fan, no disrespect to her, its just I think (personally) she tries just a bit too hard with the Alice stories. Actually I am sure there is a psych paper in there somewhere about how we project our aspirations onto children and this is reflected in our language. ie Suri is always “spectaculour and magical” from the ‘our life is perfect’ Cruises and Alice is kind of a child genius come SNL understudy. I amuse myself by imagining Suri to be a nihilistic teenage goth and Alice a very serious right wing evangalist republican voter!

my favorite celebrity child story is the Shiloh J-P orange juice one…mainly beacuse its funny and I think, lacking in spin, except perhaps arguably the spin of “see how normal we are”. Anyway, I am no J-P fan but just wanted to prove I am not a complete downer about kiddy stories. I just like the funny stories that aren’t really mummy bragging/branding. I like a bit of self-deprecation in my celebrities.
