Ana Ortiz 'Nervous' About Disguising a Burgeoning Belly

The decision to tweak the writing of a show to include an actress’ pregnancy can be difficult, the decision to hide the growing belly from millions of viewers poses a possible greater challenge! The latest Ugly Betty star to announce a pregnancy, Ana Ortiz is feeling the pressure — “I’m nervous!” — to disguise her growing bump while filming after she was told that her character would not be announcing any such news in her storyline.

Eager to make her protruding belly as discreet as possible and maintain a healthy weight gain, the 37-year-old actress is relying on her determination to stay fit. “I’m not looking forward to seeing myself get bigger, but I’m going to work out and be very healthy so that hopefully it won’t be so hard,” explains the mom-to-be.

With the burgeoning belly baton passed to her by costar Rebecca Romijn — who recently welcomed fraternal twin girls Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip — Ana is confident that, despite the creative choices of the show’s costume designer to hide a pregnancy, she will still manage to feel like a top-notch stylish mama.

“Patricia Field had Rebecca Romijn covered up in a big orange jumpsuit and she was still glamorous. It’s going to be a wonderful experience.”

The new baby will be Ana’s first child with husband, guitarist Noah Lebenzon. Dolly and Charlie are Rebecca’s children with actor Jerry O’Connell.

I am so excited for this baby, I just love Ugly Betty and this will be the last one of the boom on set. I wonder if she’s going to have a boy or a girl….

Hello. I just had a baby 3 months ago. It is a wonderful experience and I am disappointed to continue to see women who dread “getting bigger”. You are growing another human being! You are blessed to be able to do that! The growth is a SMALL bump in the enormously blessed road you will be taking. Ana- get OVER the weight gain and praise GOD for your babies.

TeeTee- She’s not “dreading” getting bigger. She’s just nervous about having to conceal her bump since her pregnancy isn’t being written into Ugly Betty.
