Jo Dee Messina Welcomes Son Noah Roger

Jo Dee Messina is a first-time mom! At 1:01 p.m. today, the 38-year-old country songstress welcomed son Noah Roger Deffenbaugh at a Nashville-area hospital; Baby boy weighed in at 6 lbs, 15 oz., PEOPLE exclusively confirms.

Noah is also the first child for Jo Dee’s husband, woodworker Chris Deffenbaugh, who put his skills to good use in preparing a handmade crib and changing table for his son.

The pregnancy was announced in October, shortly after the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

I love Noah. It is a great name, although it is extremely common. I’m happy Jo Dee picked something normal and classic instead of weird like Peanut or Bronx Mowgli. He will thank her for that later. Noah Roger flows perfectly. Well done, Jo Dee and Chris!
