Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts Say Sammy's a Keeper

01/16/2009 at 11:00 AM ET

A little over one month after welcoming 4 ½-week-old Samuel ‘Sammy’ Kai, actors Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts are clearly smitten — even if they’re trying hard not to let it show. “We like him just fine,” Liev said during the New York City premiere of his new film Defiance. “He can stay,” Naomi added.

Described by Liev as “really, really dishy” and deemed “gorgeous” by Naomi, 17 ½-month-old Alexander ‘Sasha’ Pete — the couple’s first child — appears to be a heartbreaker-in-the-making. The proud papa even joked that Sasha already has his fair share of female admirers.

Sunday Rose [Kidman Urban, 6-months] is after our boy really heavy, and I think it’s kind of weird and early, and I think she should back off, slow down and get her act together before that all happens. And [15 ½-month-old] Olive [Baron Cohen]’s been after our baby for a while too.”

The boys are in “no rush” to pair off with either Sunday or Olive, however, choosing instead to “take their time” according to Liev. “They’re young men, they live in New York, they’ve got the world in front of them, lots of things to do before they have to settle down,” he joked.

Sunday is the first child together for Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, who is also mom to 16-year-old Isabella Jane and Connor Antony, turning 14 on Saturday. Olive is the first child for Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Defiance is in theaters today.

That’s sweet.

I adore them!! Sasha is adorable, I love Sammy’s name, and I love how smitten Liev and Naomi are. What does “dishy” mean?

Sarah on

Dishy is slang for like good-looking and attractive.

Haha. Sunday and Olive fighting over Sasha. 🙂 Who knew Liev could be so funny?

“We like him just fine,” Liev said – “He can stay,” Naomi added.

How funny these quotes! lol lol

Can you imagine in 20 years, we will read about how Olive and Sunday are ‘fighting’ over Sasha!! lol lol

babyboopie on

Haha! Maybe Olive can have Sasha and Sunday can have Sammy!! This interview really made me laugh!

LOL! I didn’t realize Naomi and Liev were so funny! I guess they see the same thing in Sasha we all do. 🙂 One of my favorite families.

Oh, the boys are already heartbreakers. Watch out when they hit puberty and really figure out what the deal with girls is. 😉

Amber on

“They’re young men, they live in New York”. Hysterical.

Jane on

Cute interview! I like it when parents act sort of jokingly non-chalant like that but you can tell they’re 100% enamoured and smitten.

i love these guys. lol @ sunday: “she should back off and get her act together.”

Keep in mind Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts are best friends. So, it’s cute they have children around similar ages.

You can tell all these people (Kidmans etc etc) are really good friends. Sunday is already hooked up with Tennyson Crowe and Huckleberry something, so she is becoming quite the party girl.

I’m laughing at what he said about little Sunday! “Get her act together”…lol!

I have never heard of a baby having a ‘personality’ when he or she is only a mo. old. I have 4 children and it wasn’t till each was a whole lot older that I could see his and her personalities..

This interview was too funny! Liev and Naomi have some great senses of humor! Fevvers, I was thinking the same thing! All the dad’s seem to want their babies to date Sunday! She’s getting to be pretty popular around celebrity babydom!

CelebBabyLover on

Judith, Liev was referring to Sasha’s personality, not Sammy’s! 🙂

I actually do think newborn babies have personalities.
