Daniel Goddard Photographed Every Stage of Son's Delivery

Roger Karnbad/Celebrity Photo

Many parents love taking pictures of their baby’s arrival, but actor Daniel Goddard may have gone a little overboard when he and wife Rachael welcomed son Sebastian William 3 ½-weeks ago. “I put on a prime lens on my camera and I shot 36 rolls of film during the birth,” notes The Young and The Restless star. “I got every picture — from her walking into the hospital, to the doctor with a scalpel in her stomach, to the baby’s head in her lap.”

During the c-section delivery, the obstetrician asked Daniel if he “wanted to see [Rachael's] ovaries and insides,” but the 37-year-old declined to get up close and personal with those particular parts of his wife, explaining that “that image would have killed my sex drive!” This decision was fine by Rachael, Daniel notes, because she “didn’t want a camera near her insides” in the first place!

This may have been Daniel’s last chance to capture moments such moments, as the actor “think[s] we’re done now,” sharing that he believes his family is complete with Sebastian and older son Ford Martin, 2 ½. “But who knows?” the actor adds.

Daniel was recently named “Most Beautiful Man Alive” for 2009 by TV Guide Canada.

Oh goodness….sounds like me and my brother!!! We have pictures from every step of the way with my sister in law.

We took 2,600 pictures the few days they were in the hospital with my niece.

When I had my c-section I made my husband PROMISE ME that he wouldn’t look over the sheet! If he wanted to see “insides” he should have became a doctor! ha ha He actually did very well. He didn’t look until they had both girls out & then I’m sure that he wasn’t paying any attention to anything else in the world but them :)

He used a camera with film? Digital is the way to go…especially when you want to take so many pictures. It’s less expensive and you can just hit “delete” if the pictures don’t turn out great. :)

Congrats to the happy couple, by the way!

Is it just me or does she look EXACTLY like Debbie Gibson?

Ha..this is funny because the dr. didn’t even ask my husband. He happened to go around to check on the baby where they were cleaning him off and then the dr. just showed him and started talking about it. He did pretty well, but I think he’s still slightly disturbed by it. I could see the reflection in the giant light above me, but surely not the same view that my husband had. Poor guy.

Sebastian is darling. As if I didn’t adore Daniel enough, that shot of him snoozing with Sebastian is beyond cute. :)

I’ve had a cesarean, and I wouldn’t have wanted my husband taking pictures of the surgery. Just the thought that they used a scalpel on me gives me the creeps. Yuck! Get pictures of the baby when he’s over in the corner, but not of them cutting him out of me…lucky for me, they didn’t allow cameras in the operating room.
