Naomi Watts' Slimmed-Down Post Baby Debut

Dara Kushner/INF

Bye bye baby weight! Walking hand-in-hand with partner Liev Schreiber last night at the New York City premiere of his new film Defiance, Naomi Watts showed off her stunning postpartum physique since welcoming son Samuel ‘Sammy’ Kai, 4 ½-weeks.

The 40-year-old actress credits breastfeeding for the amazing transformation. “He’s sucking it all out of me, it seems,” she tells PEOPLE. “And when the baby comes out, it’s a lot of weight right there.”

The night out on the town for Naomi and Liev — dating since 2005 — was made possible by a “great nanny,” he said, and the film holds special significance for the couple.

“We had [son Alexander] ‘Sasha’ [Pete, 17 ½-months] when we were shooting this movie in Lithuania,” Liev reveals. “So it’s kind of a treat for the movie to be out … and now we’ve got Sammy.”

The Schreiber boys are already establishing that they are their own little men, Naomi added.

“They’re very different. [Sammy]‘s more fragile, in a way. But I don’t know, maybe I’ve forgotten how small they are. Sasha is only 18 months old.”

Defiance is in theaters Friday.

She is breathtaking!

I bet she is happy to have her body back. That pregnant tummy must have killed her poor back.

- Tracy on

Omg, gag! She looks way to good to have just had a baby- I still love this family, even though I’m so jealous!

- kendrajoi on

She looks amazing! I can’t believe she had a baby 4 weeks ago! I really love her dress too.
Beautiful family, can’t wait to see Sammy.

- Stéph on

I’m really hoping she’s got some of those ‘wonder pants’ on under that dress, in order to give the rest of us hope! She looks amazing and really glowing.

- Bumbles on

Is honestly possible to have a flat stomach several weeks after birth? I have seen thin after birth women with a little tummy for at least 2 or 3 months.

- Shi on

That doesn’t even look like her! I mean, I think her face looks very different here.

- Valerie on

^ I think it’s because her hair is back and she’s wearing red lipstick. Both two different things for her!

She looks really wonderful. I had the same thing happen with my boys, they literally sucked the weight off of me. Of course you still have a little loose skin for a few weeks until it tones back up, but the weight was honestly gone. I ended up weighing less by the time I was done nursing. Kind of crazy.

- Brandi on

Some things in life are SO not fair. How in the world can she look that good already??

- Brooke on

That is a typical post baby body in Hollywood! Man, she looks stunning! It’s impossible she had her baby 4 weeks ago. I love her as an actress and a mother; Sasha is by far one of the most adorable baby I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for new pics of Sammy!

- SARA on

Her body looks awesome, and sasha is such a cute baby I bet sammy is too. She was definitley all belly, because she looks like she never was pregnant with 2 kids so close in age.

- Gianna on

She’s gorgeous, pregnant or otherwise :)
A natural beauty

- Kelpy on

I love that their boys are Sasha and Sammy! Soo cute!! She looks fabulous, and I adore this family.

- Nicole on

omg she looks fantastic!!!! I hope I look like that after dropping a baby someday lol!!

- JM on

she looks amazing…and not to take away from how much her body has bounced back but I think it also has something to do with the belt that she’s wearing…

- Ally on

I agree, she does look absolutely fantastic. But I too think she chose the right dress with that belt….and I’d bet the farm that she has on spanx under there! Not criticizing…I’m complimenting her, while infusing a dose of reality.

- madison on

I wish I looked that good even BEFORE I had kids! lol

- Jess on

I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight and into my pre-pregnancy clothes about 10-14 days after my daughter was born. I gained 24 lbs during my pregnancy and my daughter was seven and a half pounds.

I breastfed and still do (she’s only 9 weeks old), but most of it was just plain luck. I didn’t do anything special before, during, or after my pregnancy, I’m just a tiny person.

I will say, however, that breastfeeding has caused me to be more hungry than I was while I was pregnant, and I have had to eat considerably more to stay at my current weight because of breastfeeding my daughter.

- Kate on

I love her so in no way is this an insult, but that is near impossible to do with a second pregnancy and 41/2 weeks postpardum, she had to have had some sort of lipo or whatever! She defin. gained more than 24 pounds!!

- Ivey on

Wow! So jealous. It has taken me 9 months to lose the weight, but no flat tummy yet (ever?).

- melanie on

C’mon ladies, it’s pretty obvious that she’s wearing tummy tuck spanx. And that huge belt is made to turn your eyes away from the bulge. Yes, she looks great but seriously…

- Stephanie on

Looking at almost all celebrity new mommies, you have to wonder how they all get back to their pre-pregnancy sizes so quickly. Many of them start working out with personal trainers long before their bodies are ready for it. Some have tummy tucks after their c sections and many of them use Spanx-type products (Brooke Burke now sells something called “Taut” for $60 that holds everything in). So even though she looks great, it is for sure that some help was involved.

- Beth on

Beth- From what I’ve heard, most doctors won’t do tummy tucks after C-sections, because of the risk involved.

- CelebBabyLover on

WHAT?! OMG! Naomi looks AMAZING! Longer hair works for her too! I think the vertical stripes in her dress is a visual distraction from (maybe) a post-baby tummy leftover. Of course, the breastfeeding, genetics and her metabolism is on her side. Whatever the reason, she looks great!

- Sarah on

She looks amazing, good for her. Even with spanx or whatever I wouldn’t look that good :)

This family seems so normal and sweet. Sammy sounds cute!

- Anna on

I kid you not. My son is 4 years old and his name is Kai Samuel.

- Brandi on

Igghh…now i’m really depressed.I’ll just go back to my cheesecake now…thank goodness for my belly band hehe..

CelebBabyLover- From what I hear now, lots of doctors are doing lots of things “while your open” (i’ve only heard these things from people who c-sections).Two of my friends had something else done after the baby came out (1 had a tummy tuck and the other had her tubes tied).I think it was reported that Angelina and Gwen had it done, but i’m not sure.

- Aya on

Aya- I doubt Angie had a tummy tuck after her C-section. She actually seems (to me, anyway) like the last celeb on Earth would do that! In fact, in recent photos it looks like she’s actually trying to hide a little left-over “Knox and Viv tummy”! Anyway, here’s what I’ve heard about tummy tucks after C-sections: Either you’d have to be put under for the entire thing and thus miss the birth of your child, or you’d have to be given a spinal or epidural for the C-section, and then knocked out for the tummy tuck.

The latter is something that most doctors aren’t willing to do, as having that much anesthesia plus having both spinal and general is very risky. That said, yes, I am aware that doctors do do other things “while they’re in there”. My own mother had her tubes tied immeditely after I was born via C-section. But getting your tubes tied is a lot less risky and a lot less complicated than getting a tummy tuck. Or maybe the tummy tuck that some doctors do after a C-section is different from a “normal” tummy tuck.

- CelebBabyLover on

I think she looks great. Maybe she is just blessed in the weightloss department.

- Stephanie on

She looks stunning. (Granted I slimmed down pretty quick after I had my daughter, thanks to the nursing.)I miss that post-baby glow, she looks so happy!

Almost makes me want another child! Well, almost…
