First Daughter Malia Obama's Trendy Tees

While the world waits to see what kind of First Lady fashion-statement Michelle Obama will make, we’ve had a sneak peak at the playful, youthful style that Malia, 10, favors during her down time. While on vacation with her family in Hawaii earlier this month, the First Tween sported several cotton T-shirts by Tease while snuggling with Pop President-Elect Barack Obama or skipping though the surf.

Tease, a year-old line, has rapidly become an “It” label for tweens and juniors with their colorful—and age-appropriate!—hand-crafted tops and bottoms. The solid and ombre shirts have patterns with hearts, smiley faces or peace signs (Malia has the Pink Tye Dye Peace shirt, $51, the Tye Dye Blue Smiley Face shirt, $51, and the Blue Tye Dye Tank with flowers).

It’s not the first time Malia’s style has attracted attention. The red, taffeta Biscotti Inc. dress she wore to her father’s Chicago victory rally Nov. 5. generated tons of requests.

No doubt her latest sweet tees will cause the same frenzy!

Why would you buy washed out clothes for your child? Not a fan of this style. It’s like buying jeans with holes already in them for your kid. What the heck??

I don’t think I’d call this shirt washed out…it’s tye-dye and is suppose to look like that.

I use to wear shirts like this all the time and this one is particularly cute!

I think the shirts are cute but $51 is a lot to pay for a tee shirt. Of course, she has a sister to hand them down to, if Sasha would wear them!!

Yeah, $51 is a little too much for me to spend…especially during this Recession. The t-shirt is cute, and I would have loved to see my 8 yr.old daughter in it though!

Cute but too expensive.
