Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes Walk it Out

12/30/2008 at 03:00 PM ET

Ramey

A stylish Katie Holmes held hands with daughter Suri Cruise, 2 ½, as they headed to Katie’s evening performance of All My Sons Friday night in New York City (the show closes January 11th). Afterward, the mom-daughter duo caught a showing of the Disney/Pixar film Bolt. Wonder if Suri liked the movie?

Dad is Katie’s husband, Tom Cruise. See more of Suri in our gallery, Suri’s Stylish Year!

I think Suri is absolutely adorable…love the red shoes!! If she made it through the movie, she needs to give lessons to my 4 year old son that won’t even step foot in a movie theater- too funny!!

XOXO on

Little Suri is such a ‘fashionista’ lol She is so cute and adorable!!

I think she looks just the Katie in this picture!

Love the red shoes!!

jojosmom on

anyone know where I can get a hat like that?

babyboopie on

The red shoes reminds me of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, ” There’s no place like home!” Bless Suri!

Does anyone know what time the performances run to? I think it’s wonderful that Suri is close by Katie and that she gets to go to the theatre with her, I was just wondering how late they go, because if it was in the UK, the performances would be finishing at something past 10 in the evening, which is awfully late for a little one! And a film afterwards? I’m not trying to be critical at all, I’m just curious about the timings that’s all.

P.S. Still loving those Dorothy shoes!

I would agree with phoebe…a bit concerning as to why a 2.5 year old is taken to a evening show and then a movie afterwards?
She is a cutie though!

I have a feeling Suri is used to the late night schedule. She probably sleeps late and, therefore, stays up late. Everyone has their “normal” and this may be totally normal for them, at least until Katie’s show is done.

The kid should be in bed! A show at 8 runs past 10, and then they went to a movie???

I’m concerned too that she’s going to Katie’s shows every night… toddlers need an early bedtime, by 7 is really best. I can understand every now and then but not every day.

About the timing I don´t see that as something we can complain about, my 3 year old goes to bed at 11 pm or even midnight, we struggle with him every night haha, but he gets evening naps and is active and well rested, if a baby or toddler is tired, they just fall sleep, I see no problem with Suri watching Katie´s performance and then go to the movies.

Said that, I can believe how beautiful she is, she is like not real, I don´t know how to say it, and I mean it in a good way. I wish she was my daughter ;)

Isn’t it really cold in NYC right now? Why is Suri not wearing a coat, hat, scarf and mittens??? Katie is dressed more properly for the cold, but could use a coat too. Love Suri’s adorable shoes, though.

Laura on

it was actually nice on Friday, if i remember correctly. Also, i heard somewhere, forget where, that she was pregnant. Is that true?

JM on

I’ve given up on the coat thing. Obviously Suri hates them and they don’t proceed to make her wear one.

As far as the schedule. John Travolta made it clear before that his kids are up late until 3 or 4 am and they sleep during the day. I am not sure they are still on that schedule but I do remember people being in an uproar about that. What works for one family doesn’t work for another. They’re not living everyday lives like most of us so I guess they can do as they wish. I do believe he also home schooled the children so I guess when you do that it’s not really that important about when they actually go to bed.

I guess Suri is a late night girl who sleeps in. And she’s 2 it’s not like she’s gotte be up for work! As long as she’s getting the proper amount of sleep I don’t see anything wrong with it. And lets not forget Suri is not our typical little toddler lol!!

I know that it has been said before but that baby needs a coat…even if she doesn’t like wearing one. Look at mommy – she is wearing jeans, gloves, long sleeves, a hat and scarf and carrying a blanket which I assume is Suri’s substitute coat. Where is that beautiful $400 scalloped white coat?

gargoylegurl on

I don’t think we can compare our lives and routines with those of celebs. It’s entirely a different world, and the children probably adapt just fine. It’s all about what they’re used to. I’m sure Suri is thriving and doing just fine. Sure, it seems alien to us regular folks, but to them, staying out late, traveling, sleeping during the day, is all probably “normal.”

I’m SO sick of the comments about her not wearing a coat. We don’t know this child personally. Her parents have possibly decided it’s not worth putting her in a coat when they are just walking a couple of feet from a building to a car. Tom has already said she hates wearing a coat. If she was outside for more than a few minutes I’m sure they would dress her in warm clothing.

Colleen on

It was unseasonably warm here in NY over the weekend. Friday and Saturday were in the upper 60s. I wouldn’t bother with a coat during those temperatures if I were just running outside and into a car after a minute or 2. Also, maybe Suri naps during the play. She could also sleep in pretty late, and thus stay up later.

My best friend (a stay-at-home mom) and her husband purposely have an 11pm bedtime for their small children (3 & 4). This is so that when Dad gets home from work at 6pm, the family still has several hours to be together, instead of the kids being put to bed at 7pm (as one poster suggested).

Plus it gives Mom some time in the morning to get things done because the kids sleep late.

Carol on

Suri is adorable. Didn’t anybody ever have a second shift baby? We slept in until 9 or 10 in the morning and stayed up so Mommy could be there for bedtime. What difference does it make as long as she’s getting enough sleep.

melania on

Bedtimes don’t matter at all imo unless you’re children are in school. In the summer, we put the kids to bed at 11pm or even later. That way we can all sleep in until 9 or so. But we’re all night owls in this house anyway (and we hate mornings). My kids didn’t get up until 8am on Christmas! I never understood putting kids to bed at 7, though some of my friends do it. That totally wouldn’t work in my world.

Dana on

Suri is also not an East Coast girl. She lives mainly in L.A., and they travel the world. By keeping her on her “normal” schedule, she wouldn’t have gone to the movie until about 7 pm “her time.” When we take our kids on vacation, we keep them on their normal sleep schedule so they aren’t grumpy and out of sorts.

CelebBabyLover on

Colleen- I wouldn’t bother with a coat in those tempuratures, either. Also, although Katie is wearing a scarf and hat, she’s not wearing a coat, either. If you look close, you can also she that she has one of her shirt sleeves pushed up to just below her elbow. I also think the hat and scarf, especially the hat, might just be fashion for her.

As for the comments about her sleep schedule…I believe Katie mentioned that Suri goes to bed late and sleeps in late in the mornings back in Janauary.

CelebBabyLover on

Oh, and as for her being pregnant…I haven’t heard that rumor, but I suspect it’s just that, a rumor. I personally doubt she and Tom will try for baby number 2 until after All My Sons wraps.

Hea on

Yes, she should wear a coat but seriosly, I’ve never seen even the smallest drip of snot coming from her nose or anything. Usually, kids her age, have the constant green 11 running down their face.

Elaine on

Dana -that is a good point and I think i read somewhere that the family go back to LA regularly, so perhaps it is easier to keep her in the west coast time.

sarah on

Late or not? Has no one bothered to think this may be a matinee showing? Or do we know what time this photo was taken?

sarah on

Oh yes! It is an evening performance according to the notes.

Des on

A little life living is good for the soul. ;)

My kids are up late a lot too.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
