There is no doubt that the little boy country singer Jo Dee Messina is expecting will “be exposed to all kinds of music” growing up, but the 38-year-old has yet to officially introduce her son to it. “No, I haven’t started walking around with headphones on my stomach yet,” jokes Jo Dee, adding that her husband Chris Deffenbaugh is “a big jazz guy, so at some point I’m sure the baby will be totally confused by the musical selections being toted around the house!”
While he may be confused about music, it appears as if he will have two new buddies to keep him company when he arrives this winter — in the form of his mom’s dogs Bella and Russell. Since her pregnancy, the dogs “don’t leave me,” the singer explains. “They’ve been really under my feet the last couple of months. And they’ll fight over who’s sitting closest to me.” However, Jo Dee isn’t too worried about how the dogs will react once her little boy arrives because her dogs are generally good with children.
“I know they’re very good with my nephew … They’re very good with him, and my assistant has a little baby. And they’re very gentle with the baby.”
