Desperately seeking inexpensive but clever gifts for kids? Pumpkinheads, a celebrity friendly children’s shop (Marcia Cross, Jennifer Garner and Robert Downey Jr. are all fans) still has a great selection of Christmas presents. I love the laminated cloth aprons by Bella Tunno ($33) — kids can wear them for art classes or for those messy cookie making sessions. To go with those bright cover-ups, tuck in a couple of cook books just for kids. The store carries a series of cookbooks by Handstand Kids. The Mexican and Italian are our favorites and come with oven mits for $31 per set.
I’m stashing the Bella Tunno portable chalk board into a couple of stockings too. The cloth "board" can be rolled up and taken any place — the car, visiting relatives, and for play dates. At $25 it has great non-electronic entertainment value.
(This year, 15% of their profits are donated to Operation School Bell, whichprovides new clothing and personal grooming products to children inextreme need in the Los Angeles area.)
