Serena & Lily Art Apron: Simple Style, Thoughtful Touches

12/16/2008 at 10:00 AM ET

If you have a budding artist on your hands and are in need of a great birthday gift, I’ve found a real winner in Serena & Lily’s Art Apron ($36). The days of the bulky, awkward smock are behind you, because this apron offers good coverage without getting in the way of the good times.

A non-toxic coating makes it totally wipeable, and adjustable straps make it suitable for children of various sizes. The 100% cotton mosaic print is understated and cool, appealing to your grown-up sense of style, while the chest pocket and included wax crayons are sure to please your little one. Speaking of the latter, the crayons are made in Denmark of high quality, pesticide-free beeswax that won’t stick, peel or crumble. Each of the primary colors are represented.

I really like the simplicity and almost retro-like styling of this apron; it reminds me of something my mom would have made for me, when I was a girl, while the all natural crayons and pocket add a thoughtful touch.

Mom Said It

"We weren't trying to have kids. We left it up to fate. I knew there was a possibility, but I was really excited. Even if you are trying, just to see a positive result is shocking!"
