Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers brought along his oldest child — daughter Isabella, 12 — to the opening of the Dolce & Gabbana flagship boutique in Los Angeles on Monday evening. The event benefited the Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization bringing creative projects to children who are battling serious medical conditions.

Justin and wife Keisha are also parents to 10-year-old twins Maya and Kaila, 8-year-old Eva and 6-year-old Jackson. In March, Justin discussed his parenting techniques, encouraging parents to call their kids out if they’re misbehaving!

"Being a parent is great. It’s hard work, but fun. Love and enjoyyour children, but at the same time, be sure to call them out on theircrap. I’m not afraid to call them on their character."

She’s so lovely, and looks a lot like her mom.

It’s so nice to hear a parent that isn’t all, “my children are free spirits! They HAVE to run and scream and act out, it’s their individual personalities! We negooooootiate!” Um, no. They’re children. You should be teaching them how to be successful adults who think of others and have good character. Thank you, Justin!

i always forget he has 5 kids, because his character on grey’s is so…unfather-like. but, his daughter is gorgeous

Koodos. We have 4 kids. 16yr old girl, 14yr boy, 7yr boy, 4yr girl. I will call their “crap” too. And although I really do have great kids. Right now I say “I am a parent, not your friend, I do things and say things because I am YOUR parent. You can come to me with anything, But please do not lie or put yourself or someone elses life in danger” Someday I will be their friend, Just now is not that time! 😦 We try very hard not to judge them or their friends. Its hard. I have a whole new respect for my mom who raised 5. I think its even more hard with the internet. But I make it easier with having just one computer in the house and thats in the family room where we spend all our time. plus, no tv’s in their bedrooms either! And I take the 16 year olds cell away at 10pm everynight. 11 on weekends. Sure, I believe at times they view me as the AntiChrist. But those are my rules.

“Sure, I believe at times they view me as the AntiChrist. But those are my rules.” LOL I just had to say that one made me laugh.

I come from a large family (5) and as a parent of 2 I really can’t imagine trying to juggle more. It’s not easy and I know I thought my parents were the antichrist but we get along quite nicely now. 🙂

I totally agree, Michele. It’s so refreshing to hear a parent, especially a celebrity one with a family as big as Justin’s, stay down to earth and focused on the fact that truly effective parenting takes hard work and determination. Don’t always love his character on Grey’s, but the show wouldn’t be the same without him. Kudos to you, Justin.

Isabella looks just like her mom. I wonder if any of the others take after him?

I absolutely agree with Mary. I am their mother, not their friend right now. They can have lots of friends, but only one mother. Our kids are ages 12, 10 and 8. I have high expectations for my kids and bad behavior is not acceptable and they know it. They make mistakes as we all do but there are repercussions. I know who the hang out with because I’ve seen too many kids get in trouble in the company they keep. We are trying to raise responsible people that realize that they have choices and there are consequences to all choices-good and bad. I definitely call them on it.

ca, I think he’s like 38.

I love him and think he’s probably a great parent.

Beautiful daughter too!

“Isabella looks just like her mom.”

Yeah, she totally has Keisha’s face shape. She’s a cutie – and 12! Justin and Keisha will have a teenager on their hands soon, but they sound up to the challenge 🙂

Emily, you’re right! He’s 38! Oh, my. He looks soo good for 38. He looks like he could be her older brother.

Mary, I have to say that you have it sooo right when it comes to your kids. I love that they have no TV’s in their rooms. I have 13-year-old twin cousins who think they walk on water. They spend 23 hours a day texting with their friends and have a TV AND a Wii in their bedroom! It’s nuts. They are so disrespectful and rude. It’s annoying just to be around them. So, kudos, Mary! Your kids will turn out great!

Mary we are completely on the same page. You can only have two parents…let everyone else be their friends.
