Katie Holmes and Her Sweet Suri

Humberto Carreno/Startraks

Suri Cruise gets a little shy while stepping out with mom Katie Holmes on Tuesday in NYC. The mother-daughter pair were making their way to the Diller-Quaile School of Music, reportedly for a birthday party.

Katie and her little girl, 2 ½, have been spending lots of one-on-one time lately, going to Rockefeller Center, making a statement in red, and shopping for underprivileged children for the holidays.

Can’t get enough of Suri? Check out her Year in Dresses!

- freya on

- jessie on

Wow…That’s such a nice coat!As usual, Suri looks adorable!!!

- Anh-Chi Nguyn on

Suri’s face is priceless!!

- Mary on

Katie looks quite old on this picture, it’s definitely not flattering. But, she kind of reminds me of Penelope Cruz on this picture, her facial expression, anyone sees that too?
I love love love Suri’s coat !!!

- Nikka on

Suri’s always dressed so great, even her coats are awesome lol. That’s a beautiful coat, and suri is a pretty child.

- Brooke on

Holy cow – that’s a $400 coat! I don’t think I’VE ever owned a coat that expensive. Although I guess if money’s no object, why not!

- ErykaWynter on

Yup Katie has gotten really old since she had Suri!

- babyboopie on

She is by far the cutest little girl to me ! Tom and Katie can really be proud of miss Suri !

- ebEL on

She is absolutely adorable!

- jane on

my niece has a coat like this, but it is pink, and has a little plaid print on it, I got it at walmart for 25 dollars, canadian. But i love the simple white, but would never dream paying that much for a coat that they will out grow quickly

- Angela Lake on

How cozy they both look! I would love a jacket like Suri’s for myself…is that weird? Haha wishing for a toddler’s wardrobe?

- Savannah on

Well, one things for sure! Little Suri Cruise will never know what it’s like to be in need her whole life! She’s one blessed little girl and I hope she realizes it as she gets older.

- Doreen on

Thats a lovely coat, I want one!

- Artemis on

they always looks so beautiful, the cruise family! and I love suri’s coat! its’ beautiful…

- dawn on

I’m sorry but the way they dress this little girl is just rediculous.Yes her clothes are cute. But she is a 2 1/2 year old child. She should be out socializing and playing with other young kids her age.Not paraded around town looking like a barbie….

- sophie on

Katie looks very tired in this picture. Suri’s face truly is priceless (as Mary stated). Love the solid white coat, it looks really warm …. but wow it’s expensive. I would never personally spend that much money on a coat for my daughter but then again I will never have the money that Tom and Katie have LOL …. more power to them. I’m really loving these recent pictures of Katie and Suri.

- Bancie1031 on

A $400 coat for a 2 year-old. I’ve never owned something so expensive in my entire life. That is completely ridiculous.

- Jessica on

My twins got the exact same coat from my mother in law as a gift. They both love it!

- lizzielui on

C’mooon… we are POOR, they are RICH. $400 is like nothing for them. Problably Kate don’t even ask about the price, just buy what she likes.
Also it looks large for her. She will be able to use it on next winter. LOL.

- Elisa on

Suri look like the cutest doll baby!!!

If it’s not your money being spent, don’t worry about it. End of story

- stedine on

I hate to say it…but Katie looks older and older in every picture I see of her. I don’t know if it’s the haircut or what it is but she just looks so much older than she actually is. Suri looks beautiful as always but it seems like motherhood is really wearing Katie out. She’s not looking herself lately!

- Stef on

haha, she’s wearing a coat, everyone should just be happy about that!!
yes, it’s quite an inflated price, but to each their own. she still looks ADORABLE!

- kmb on

$400.00 for a rich person is really nothing. I’m no where near as rich as tom and katie and I bought myself a coat recently for $300.00 and some of my handbags are really expensive too. And I like to buy expensive kids clothes too, because if you dress yourself good, why not do the same with your child or children. I figure you know what you only live once so enjoy your life, as long as you don’t have bills you owe left and right. Plus I work hard for my money, as do tom and katie and anybody else who chooses to live a certain way so to each is own. Definitley nothing wrong with people that can’t imagine spending that, but it’s ok that some people do spend that.

- gianna on

Well obviously they can afford the coat but a 400 coat plus designer shades and shoes is a combination for a spoiled teenager. I’ll pray for Tom and Katie.

- Jessica on

I don’t know about anyone else, but if I could afford a $400 coat for my daughters, they would each have one!

Suri is too sweet! She is hands down the cutest celeb child!

- Mary-Helen on

I am a little disturbed by the fact that CBB published the name of the school that hosts Suri’s class. I know that Suri/Tom/Katie are photographed nearly everyday and that their routines are obvious to anyone who regularly looks at paparazzi shots, but somehow it seems wrong to say the exact location and the day of a child’s weekly class. There are lots of crazy people out there.

I’d love to hear the thoughts of the CBB staff and other readers on this. I know that there are fine lines to these situations.

- Tiger Lily on

please enough about complaining about expensive things for suri.
its not as if tom and katie are having these clothes custom made. these things are manufactured in the thousands and are available for consumers. its ok to want the very best for your child. and trust there are thousand of babies out there dressed in far more expensive stuff.

- lexi on

I agree that it’s all relative. A $400 coat to them is like us spending $20 on one! It is there money so they can choose to spend it on whatever they like. I’d love to be able to buy clothing for my kids without having to look at the price tag.

- Lorus on

Lexi – people were commenting, not complaining, regardless, they are allowed to have their say, I wouldn’t worry about it. I think the coat is adorable, but is crazy expensive for what it is! I have seen a very similar one in a shop in the UK for £50, which is about $70 give or take. This is not a criticism about Tom and Katie at all, it’s the designers, prices are crazy but they know people will pay it anyway for the name, something wrong with that balance! Mum and daughter look cute though.

- phoebe on

What a lovely little girl and her mom seems to be so in love with own daughter! All the best !

- merce369 on

I am sorry, but they totally used L. Ron Hubbard’s frozen sperm. Suri looks just, just like him in the face.

- Michele on

HeHe it looks like Suri is trying to pull off her beautiful coat, which is maybe why she is usually without a coat, she doesn’t like them! The coat is gorgeous and Suri is stunning.

PS CB, is there a reason you did not post the pictures of Nicole and Sunday in the car sans car seat. It was posted on UK’s Daily Mail.

- Car on

400 dollars to them is like 40 dollars to us! It’s NOTHING when you are multi millionaires!!!

People need to relax on the money thing..other celebs buy expensive things for their children too because THEY CAN TOTALLY AFFORD TO!!!

If I were rich like that, my son would have the best clothes too, they last longer, they’re very well made and they are very stylish.

Just be happy Suri has a coat ON..isn’t that what you’ve all been upset about for the past two months?

- TracyG on

Wow…I love that coat. Suri is so adorable. She reminds me of a little doll I used to have, but obviously bigger. And her little ballet flats? I am jealous of her wardrobe :)

- Kayla on

Suri is cute, but KAK has been looking really worn down lately. I can’t believe she’s going to be 30 next week. I reached that milestone myself 7 months ago, & just don’t understand how someone with as many resources as she has ($ for beauty treatments, hairstylists, personal assistants, nannies, etc) can look that old at such a young age.

- Kate on

I love Suri’s outfits but I don’t agree with the people that say if you had the money you would buy those clothes too. No I wouldn’t, even if I had millions I wouldn’t spend 375US$ on a coat my child would only wear for a few months. I wouldn’t even spend it on a coat for myself.

- Sarita on

Lol, whenever I read a Suri post, I always wonder how long it will be before the comment police start work! What is it about Suri that makes people so defensive? I see complimetary and critical comments on lots of posts, and I think people should have their say no matter what catagory they fall into. I don’t understand why people can’t just let people say what they want to here, without trying to police the forum. If people are being rude or swearing, the comments won’t get past the moderators, but it seems that people are now ‘not allowed’ to make comments AT ALL about expensive clothes, even if none of the comments are more than mildly critical at worst.

- Ally on

tracyg,
my thoughts exactly.

some people are kidding themselves.

anyway on a more positive note, they look so cute dressed up (almost) alike.

- brandi c. on

I love Suri’s clothes, especially her little Juicy Couture dresses. I definitely cannot afford to buy dresses like this all the time for my little ones but once in a while Ill splurge.

Lately, my friends and I have been checking out the kids sales on Gilt Groupe. They had a pretty good Lucy Sykes sale. And right now they have a Ralph Lauren kids sale going on. They dont have as many kids sales as I would like, but it may be worth checking out.

- Kate T on

That coat-heck, her whole outfit-is stunning as usual. A lot of her clothes look like miniature versions of things adults would wear, but the fact that I find myself admiring a toddler’s wardrobe so strongly is still bizarre!

Yes the coat is expensive, but not extraordinarily so compared to the other items she wears-I can’t imagine her Burbery coat costs less. And the fact that she’s in one at all is by far the more important thing as far as I’m concerned.

- Lauren on

Has anyone ever thought that maybe they received this coat for free? Celebrities get so much stuff for free because everybody sees them wearing it and they get advertisement out of it. I’m pretty sure that a lot of the girl’s clothes is given to them for free.

- Nikki on

Memo to Angelina: Take note of Suri and Katie – it wouldn’t hurt for you to dress up your children once in awhile and share the spotlight with them. Angelina is almost always dressed for the red carpet, but her children are usually dressed like little ragamuffins! Everytime I see pictures of her children, I want to put them all in a hot bath, comb (and cut) their hair, and put some decent clothes on them! If Angelina’s children are going to wear ill-fitting hand me downs from fifty years ago, then I would like to see her in the same.

- alice on

That’s funny Ally, when I see a Suri post, I always wonder how long it will take for the Suri complainers to kick into gear. Usually one of the first 5 posts starts the “fun”.

You’re complaining about the defenders, why can’t THEY say what they want here just as the complaining group can?

How is it defensive and telling someone to stop commenting if the “defender” is replying to a “complainer” who says that spending $400 on a coat is RIDICULOUS.

- J on

J – I think what Ally was trying to say was that to have your say is one thing, but there are people who comment on Suri posts just to tell other people what to say, or what not to say as seems to be the case. I don’t always like reading critical comments, but they are commenting on a valid aspect of the post for the majority of the time, where as those having a go at them are often attempting to regulate what can and can’t be said here, and that is not their job. If they disagree with someone else’s point of view, they should share that opposing view, not try to prevent people from having their say. There is a very distinct difference, and that is what I believe Ally (although she may want to confirm this) was getting at. I totally agree with her tbh.

- phoebe on

Aww the second picture is just as cute if not more cute than the first! I also love it because the camera’s aren’t right in her/their face!!!!!

Nikki – Yes I have heard that a lot of celebrities get “free” clothing and jewelry to “advertise”. Including baby and children clothing. Just like a lot get paid to party also because it promotes clubs and what not (like Paris Hilton).

If I could afford that coat I would surely buy it for my daughter, it’s adorable. And like other people have said $400.00 to them is like what $10.00 – $20.00 to us (if that)…… I mean comeon Tom get’s what about $15 million per movie he does …. and that’s just HIS pay that doesn’t include Katies.
Tom is one of if not the most paid actors out there. Trust me he and Katie can afford to buy that coat for Suri 100 times over.

- Bancie1031 on

Why don’t they pay teachers that kind of money? Then we can afford $400 dollar coats for our kids…I’ve had more musical training than she has and I’m making chump change because I teach music instead of perform on the stage. Nice.

- Terri on

Oh and last time I checked people are allowed to voice their opinions and critiques. Stop telling people they can’t. If it bothers you-don’t read it. No one is forcing their opinions on anyone but you are by telling us to stop.

- Terri on

Perfectly dressed. Adorable!

- Jen1 on

Yes she is cute, but wow. With all the people losing jobs and worried surviving in this economy it is disappointing to see that kind of extravagance for a 2yr old – rich celebrity or not. $400 could buy a lot of coats for kids who really need them.

- Cerise on

Cerise- The Crusies do their part for needy people as well. Two days ago, for example, there was a picture on here of Katie and Suri filling stockings for needy children.

- CelebBabyLover on

Beautiful coat, expensive, but beautiful.

- terri on

I think considering how much charity work Tom and Katie do, it’s rather obnoxious to cal them extravagant for spending THEIR money on THEIR child. The state of the economy is not their fault and nor is it their responsibility to make others feel better by buying their only child together some average clothes. If anything they have helped the economy buy buying such an expensive coat.

Not for a second do I believe anyone who says they would not buy their child the best they can afford. Apart from protecting and loving my children and bringing them up to be honourabe young men and women I would not consider myself to be doing the best for my children if I did not want to give them the sun, moon and stars if I could afford it.

I do agree that Katie is looking a little tired but as Tom is busy filming his new movie she is probably happily taking more than 50% of the childcare responsibilities. I doubt for a second she resents any of the time she spends running around after Suri, just like no decent parent would.

- Ellen on

Ellen,

I don’t know where you’re from, but I will not stand for a SECOND being called a liar, which is what you’re doing. Not if I had all the money in the world would I spend it on expensive clothing that is worn for so short a time. Maybe you need to meet people who aren’t so material, because all of the people where I am from feel the same way. We are blue-collar and hard-working and how DARE you, how DARE YOU make judgments about what we would and would not do without having EVER met us or EVERYONE ELSE in the world!!!

- Michele on

I agree with you Michele. To each his own. I find it unrealistic that people spend so much money on something that will be worn for such a short period of time when that money could go towards so much more. Yeah I’d splurge on a few things for my kids but to teach them the value of money, I wouldn’t live irrationally.

- Terri on

Uh, Ladies, I don’t really understand the arugment about spending so much for an article of clothing that will only be worn for short time.

Who says it can only be worn for a short period of time? Yes, a toddler is going to outrgrow a coat in a a very short time. However, does that mean the coat is done being used when the toddler outgrows it? Absolutly not!

You can save it and pass it down to the toddler’s younger sister later on, or if your toddler is your last or only child, then you can pass it on to a niece, friend’s daughter, or even save it for a future granddaughter. You could also choose to donate the coat to charity.

In otherwords, the coat could actually potentially get lots of use!

- CelebBabyLover on

Michele – I have to say, I agree with you on this as well. Without making reference to Suri, I think it’s abominable to equate good parenting with spending every last penny you have on your child. When it comes to raising my daughter, my time with her is infinately more valuable than my money. I don’t think Ellen meant offence with her post, but I do agree it came off that way. And for what it’s worth, if I had millions in the bank, I wouldn’t buy a massively expensive wardrobe for my daughter either. It’s not about not wanting to spend money on her, it’s about not putting money in the pockets of overpriced retailers when my daughter is going to grow out of the clothes at the speed of light anyway. This is not a criticism of the Holmes/Cruise family at all, it’s just a comment regarding children’s clothing in general. I just, quite literally, see no point in wasting the money on expensive clothes, which are often no more quality than something half the price.

- phoebe on

Shopping for underpriveledged kids while dressing your TWO YEAR OLD in $400 coat. Am I the only one that see’s the irony in this…

- Amanda on

CelebBabyLover, I completely agree with you. Designer clothes are expensive, yes – but they also hold together a LOT better than Target clothes. So once your kid outgrows it, there’ll be someone else to use it!

Unless Tom and Katie are wasteful enough to be the sort of people who just throw them out when they’re still in good condition, but there’s no way of knowing that!

I also wore the same winter coat for many years when I was small – if you buy them big, they can last!

I’m pretty lukewarm about most of Suri’s outfits because they seem so impractical (all those long dresses and ballet flats), but that coat is darling, and looks so warm! I’d buy one in my size if I had that kind of money! I don’t get why people seem to expect celebs to not spend their own money simply because other people don’t have as much. It’s pretty ridiculous how much actors get paid, but it’s their money, they’ve earned it, and they have the right to spend it as they wish. Why shouldn’t they? They don’t owe it to anyone else. It’s always nice when actors use part of their income to help less fortunate people, and most of them seem to do just that, but should they be donating all but 50 grand a year simply because they could get by without it?

Angelina Jolie donates something like a third of her income, and her family still has a huge house and her kids are all nicely dressed and take tons of trips around the world.

Sometimes it seems like nothing people do is good enough for their critics! Sheesh, I don’t even like Tom and Katie, but it’s their money. If I had a daughter, I’d want her to have nice things too. Who wouldn’t want to spend their money on their children?
