Kevin Mazur/WireImage

Lost‘s Josh Holloway confirms to TV Guide that he and wife Yessica Kumala are expecting their first child together next year. The couple, who were married in 2004, had originally planned not to have kids, but changed their minds earlier this year. Josh, 39, told USA Today,

"We have changed ourminds … only recently. Basically, nature happened. If you’re in aloving relationship with someone, [having] children becomes a part ofit. I don’t know exactly when or how, but we’re very open to eitherhaving our own children or adopting."

The fifth season of Lost will premiere Wednesday, January 21st at 8 p.m. on ABC.

- Liv on

yay! I think this is great!!!

- Aitch on

I wish people wouldn’t differentiate between adopting and ‘having a child of their own’. I know it isn’t intentional but it reads so badly…

- Principesa on

Cool congrats! I miss Sawyer and Lost.

- J on

He always reminds me of Halle Berry’s boyfriend, Gabriel.

- Marilyn on

That kid is gonna look so good.

Congratulations to Josh and Yessica.

Wow, I agree with Marilyn, he definitely looks like Halle Berry’s boyfriend, in my opinion. Very cute couple! :)

I have to comment on this. This sort of “change in plans” is a rarity because the majority of couples that make a conscious decision to be childfree take permanent measures to be so via either a tubal ligation or vasectomy or both. Why would a woman put herself through unnecessary monthly hormone changes on the pill, or the couple needs to make use of condoms (if they are both STD and HIV-free) and other measures of contraception if they do not plan on any children? So yeah, since neither got one or the other, children were a definite likelihood for them so they never really planned not to have children in the first place.

- DLR in Canada on

Wow DLR you know better than they themselves what they had planned! You must have special powers.

Maybe they don’t believe in cutting in a healthy body? Maybe she didn’t mind taking the pill, maybe they were only 99% sure of not having children? That doesn’t mean they didn’t plan to have children all along.

I love him on LOST, he’s hot :) I like that he’s been in a stable relationship for a long time and that there decision to have a child is well thought through one.

- Sarita on

DLR is obviously one of those people who has a problem with those who decide to have children.

Maybe they wanted to leave themselves the option of changing their minds later.

Oh, but look…s/he’s from Canada. Where people have surgery they don’t need just because they “can”. I’m sure s/he can’t understand.

- Micky on

Congrats to the Holloways!

- Crystal on

I think I’m the biggest fan of this Earth of LOST!I’ve watched all the episodes!I’m so happy for him!Congrats!I wish you all the best!

- SARA on

I’m sorry, but how is bashing Canadians relevant to the article? If you have an issue with another poster, please deal with that and refrain from making sweeping generalizations. After all, you yourself were arguing against those made by DLR.

Now, as for Josh and his wife – congratulations to them. Here is a family that really thought about what was important to them. God bless.

- Jannie on

Children were a definite likelihood, so they never really planned to not have children in the first place? That is quite the presumptuous statement.

He says right there in the quote “We changed our minds…” It is possible to make one decision, then to change your mind. In fact, his explanation makes perfect sense to me. Some people aren’t just out to reproduce, they are pulled by the desire to have a family with a loved one. Congrats to Josh and his wife. It seems they have a very loving environment in which to welcome a baby.

- madison on

Congrats to them!!

DLR I think you’re going a bit too far… Maybe she had a coil, which would allow them not to use birth control, and then removed it. You can’t say they’re *lying* just because they didn’t choose more irreversible operations !

- Alice on

I love this couple, how exciting for them….Josh is so good-looking, Yessica is a lucky lady!

Love him on LOST.

- Nicole on

Sawyer, I mean Josh is so hot! Especially on this photo, WOW!!!!! I think he is just gorgeous. I would like to see him, Cole Hauser, and Josh Lucas play brothers some day.

- Jasmine on

I’m assuming that Alice, by “coil” was referring to an IUD, rather than the newer Essure method (in which metal coiles are inserted into the Fallopian tubes. Scar tissue then grows around the coils, effectively blocking the path to the uterus), which is irreversable.

I just want to clear that up for anyone who may have been confused!

- CelebBabyLover on

Aw, that’s great news. I can’t wait to see their baby. But, can I have the daddy-to-be for myself? ;)

- FC on

YAAAAAAAAY!!! cant wait!!! i love him!! and i love LOST!!!& cant wait till season 5!!!

- blackrose on

that’s awesome!
