Pottery Barn Kids Advent House and Elmo's Christmas Countdown: Two Ways To Count the Days
My son Finn is 3 this Christmas so he’s really starting to get into the fun of the Christmas countdown. So what if Advent started on Sunday? We started opening doors the minute Pottery Barn Kids’ Advent House ($129) arrived. The red, wooden house has 25 green doors just big enough to hide a treat or an ornament (not included). It’s cute as-is or for $6.50 you can have the house personalized. We open a door each day to find a tiny, wooden toy ornament to hang on a small tree on our hearth. Then, by the time Christmas arrives, the tree will be ready!
There’s actually enough room for two small ornaments in the doors, for when my little one is big enough to get in on the fun, too. In fact, the whole house is bigger than it looks in the photos. I guess I could’ve measured!

Another way to maximize the Christmas anticipation is by watching Elmo’s Christmas Countdown DVD ($15). Elmo, Abby Cadabby and their new friend Stiller the elf (played by Ben Stiller)are excited to start counting down to Christmas with theChristmas-Counter-Downer. But when the counting boxes disappear, it’sup to Elmo and his friends to save Christmas. The DVD’s reallystar-studded with special guests Sheryl Crow, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Ty Pennington and more!
