Life as a first-time father is going well for Clay Aiken, who prides himself on being a hands-on dad. The 30-year-old singer says that while there’s nothing specifically that he does better than Jaymes Foster, mom to 3 ½-month-old Parker Foster Aiken, at the same time "nothing" bothers him about caring for a newborn. "I don’t have a problem with diapers … I don’t have a problem with any of that stuff," he explains to Entertainment Tonight. "It was probably a week before [Jaymes] had to change a diaper at all, because it doesn’t really bother me." Clay has gotten used to walking the halls with a fussy Parker, and admits that he does have a special knack for getting the little guy to quiet down.
"It’s a rhythm. You have to get into it and try to figure out what he wants. I think I’m trying my best to be the stubborn one who doesn’t always let him cry and get what he wants, but he’s still young … He owns us right now."
This Christmas, Clay will be in New York reprising his role as Sir Robin in Monty Python’s Spamalot. He opted to re-sign with the show instead of doing his traditional Christmas tour, in order to give Parker some stability over the holidays. "I wanted to be in a place where I could … spend the first Christmas with Parker and not be in a different city every night."
