Draw 'N Doodle and Bath Blizzard: New Products From Spin Master

11/24/2008 at 07:00 AM ET

Kids love bubble baths, and Spin Master’s KidKleen brand has taken it to the next level with the Bath Blizzard ($20). This nifty little battery-powered bubble maker hangs over the spout of your tub and will churn out sudsy fun for about ten minutes with the flip of a switch. Just put a capful of the included bubble bath in the tank, fill it up with water, screw the cap on, slide it over the spout and you’re ready to go. My kids have been begging for bathtime ever since we started using the Bath Blizzard, and what I really like about it is the control I have in terms of when it’s used. Because it’s not dependent on running water to make bubbles, as the tank is already filled, not only can I run the bath and get my kids clean before switching it on — I can also use it as a reward for good behavior in the bath.

A few things to note — The Bath Blizzard requires 4 ‘C’ batteries to run, and they are not included. Make sure you fill the tank with warm water and dump it out before re-filling it with the bubble solution. The sides of the tank need to be moist already in order for the Bath Blizzard to make the most bubbles. Also, once it’s filled, give it a good shake before setting it up over the spout.

Spin Master is also responsible for the Aquadoodle, and if you haven’t used one yet you don’t know what you’re missing. The Draw ‘N Doodle ($25) mat is its latest incarnation and like all Aquadoodle products we’ve used, it’s a big hit — with me, and my kids. Just unscrew the top of the ‘magic’ pen, fill it with tap water, and sit back and watch the 100% mess-free doodling begin. Your kids will create masterpieces on the 32 x 32" mat (big enough for two children to doodle at once!) that disappear, leaving them once again with a blank slate. If your toddler tends to veer towards the artistic but also tends to veer off the page with their markers or paintbrushes, the Draw ‘N Doodle is just what you both need.

Mom Said It

"I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night. I did feel responsible for the young girls who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy."
