Last November, we were treated to a broadcast-only Shrek sequel-esque Christmas story, Shrek the Halls. It surpassed the ratings of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and if other houses are like ours, the show has been saved on our DVR since it aired since Anya was obsessed with Shrek and her three Shrek babies last year. On November 4th, DreamWorks debuted the story on DVD so now we can finally delete it to make room for more Max & Ruby!

Featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz andAntonio Banderas, Shrek the Halls lets fans join in on the fun as Shrekcelebrates his first Christmas with his new family and learns someimportant lessons about the spirit of the season. Just when Shrek thought he could finally sit back, relax and enjoy hishappily ever after with his new family, the most joyous of all holidaysarrives.  It’s Christmas Eve, and everyone is filled with holidaycheer, except for Shrek. He isn’t exactly the picture of yuletide joy,but for the sake of Fiona and the kids, he tries to get into the spiritof things as only an ogre can.  Unfortunately, everyone seems to havetheir own ideas about what Christmas is all about, so when Donkey, PussIn Boots, Gingy and the whole gang try to join in on the fun, Shrek’splans for a cozy family celebration end up spiraling into one trulyunforgettable Christmas.

The Shrek the Halls DVD features additional holiday-themed bonus material like a sing-along version of The Twelve Days of Christmas starring the entire gang of characters from Madagascar, a unique take on Deck The Halls with the Madagascar penguins and sing-along lyrics, a Gingy Dunking Game that tests your matching skills, plus a Shrek Carnival Craze game demo and cheat codes.

The DVD is available as a single disc ($12) in either full screen or widescreen, as well as in a special two-pack with Shrek the Third ($17) and in limited edition holiday packages ($15) featuring Holiday Shrek, Holiday Puss, Holiday Donkey or Gingy plush characters. (I find Donkey hilarious but I think Gingy is definitely my favorite Shrek character.)
