Carnie Wilson Expecting Second Child

Caroline Grayshock for OK!

It has been no secret that Carnie Wilson has been shedding the pounds before giving her daughter Lola Sofia, 3 ½, a sibling and now the 40-year-old — who has lost 50 lbs — has gotten her wish! In a new interview with OK!, Carnie confirms that she is expecting her second child with husband Rob Bonfiglio, sharing that the new baby is due in June. While the couple were trying to conceive, the news still came as a surprise to Rob, who found out after arriving home from a jazz concert. Saying that her husband was very happy, Carnie reveals how she broke the news:

"I taped the pregnancy test to the front door and drew a picture of little stick figures of Daddy, Mommy, Lola, and then a little tiny one. I jumped out of bed at midnight and went into the kitchen and I see him holding the stick. He took me in his arms and goes, ‘Here we go again, honey.’"

Despite having her first ultrasound and seeing only onebaby, Carnie admits that she has twins on her mind! "My sister hadtwins; my grandmother was a twin and my grandmother’s aunt had twins. It’s not confirmed that it’s not two because one could be hiding inback of the other!"

Elated to welcome her second child, Carnie — who says"the most love you can feel is the love for your child" — is hopingfor a boy and apparently isn’t alone in that wish. "Lola pointed to the[ultrasound] screen and was laughing, ‘That’s my brother Jake!’"Unfortunately, as the singer points out, "in an Italian family, it’straditional for the son to be named after the father, at least thefirst-born male."

That is so awesome! I too am due in early June. I wish her and her family the BEST of luck!

Congrats to Carnie and family!

- Crystal on

Congratulations! I think it is very early on in the pregnancy to announce it. I was due in June 2006 and my fiance announced it to our family the minute we found out. Although we now have a beautiful 2 1/2 year old daughter, I wish we had left it a while before telling everyone. I hope all goes well for her and she has a very happy and healthy pregnancy.

- Tracie on

I bet she will have twins, just like all the other celebs out there. Probably planned that way, judging by her comments. Congrats to her and her family though!

- Bethy on

Wow congrats to Carnie and her family. I know she’s been longing to have more children. She looks great and i wish her the best! Congrats again.

I agree, her odd comment about “it’s not confirmed that it’s not two” makes it sound like there’s been some finagling. It’s sad that now celebrities are trying to have twins because it’s the “in” thing. It makes them somehow less special when they are natural, something I for one — as a “regular” person — don’t appreciate.

- mtoo on

Yup those twin comments are very weird, almost like she took something and is hoping it works and that she is pregnant with twins. How about just being happy you can have a 2nd child at age 40 and hope for a healthy baby. Congrats to her though, and I think she will have a boy next. Kinda soon to conform a pregnancy though, she is only 2 months

- brooke on

Wow. she is telling people early! I am due June 20 and I haven’t started telling people (only family). I am not even 8 weeks. Maybe she is due at the begining of June so that will put her close to 12 weeks but Whoa that was an early statement. Good for her!

As for the twins thing. I think it is just wishful thinking and just hoping that she has one because of her family history. LOL. I had my first ultrasound and it is just one, maybe I shouldn’t give up hope of two. haaa!

Congrats to Rob, Carnie, and Lola on baby #2!! I know how desperate Carnie was to have another baby and finally it’s happening. Best wishes to them on their new arrival, and I’m guessing a boy as well =).

- J.J. on

I too find the twins comments weird, like if she’s not happy with one healthy baby !! I would just say, be careful what you wish for, and be happy for what you have. I know of several people who recently lost twins through one of the yahoo infertility group, in the pregnancy, as twins pg are just so much more difficult. And if she sees one single baby, that is what she should be happy for !!! I really dont understand why she is not happy with one single and healthy baby and I feel that this could come back and bite her

- Nikka on

Congrats to them! I’m sure they’re very excited =)

- brooklyn on

Oh I think its all just wishful thinking. Maybe pregnancy is hard on her but she wants a couple more children. And she’s direct about the fact that she would love a little boy.

Also, its probably just a bunch of fluff for the OK article. Otherwise it would be a one line update – Carnie Wilson expecting second child in June. She clearly likes the publicity, nothing wrong with that, just saying. Bottom line though, like any mother I’m quite sure she just hopes for a healthy baby.

- madison on

I think it’s just wishful thinking… and partly maybe BECAUSE she is older, and knows that having twins would be a way to grow her family more quickly.

It’s not like she was wishing for a high-order set of multiples, which would be more risky.

Plus, she mentioned family history… I’m guessing part of her is thinking of playdates with her sister’s kids.

Lola has a boy only a couple years older than her in that family, and I bet she was thinking that, if she had twins, they’d have a set of twins a couple years older to play with, and it would be nice for all her kids to each have a cousin going through the same experiences.

Carnie seems pretty grounded and like a great mom.

Heck, I was hoping for twins my second time, because, even though I had a toddler (he was 18mo when my second was born), the idea of giving him not just one, but TWO siblings seemed great.

I hadn’t had a vaginal birth yet and I was scared I’d have another c/s, so since I had already decided that I would not have another baby if I wound up with a second c/s, I was partially hoping for twins so we would still get the 3 kids we wanted.

But everything worked out… and I ended up with vaginal births for my second and then my third.

I’m also glad that I didn’t have twins when I wanted to, because I definitely had my hands full.

Not that I wouldn’t have loved them, nor that, at the time, I was thinking anything bad about a single baby. You want things and GOD gives you what is meant to be and the right child or children for your family.

I think it’s the same as hoping for a girl or a boy, praying for that, but knowing that if God says “no”, that it will be for the best and you’ll love whatever blessing you get.

- Kat on

Good Lord! Some of you are being far too critical of her regarding the twin comment. I’m sure she just said it in passing because twins run in her family. She clearly is a devoted mother and will be thrilled with whatever baby she ends up with. I’m very happy for her ~ and congrats to her for losing 50 pounds, too. That could not have been easy.

- Sheri on

congratulation on the birth of your soon to be baby

Congrats Carnie. I wish you well. I’ve been pulling for you for years.

May you be blessed with good health during your pregnancy and a healthy and happy baby…

Carnie,

I also had a gastric bypass with Dr. Wittgrove and had my first child (a boy)in December 2005. I never really lost all the baby weight from the first pregnancy but I am expecting my second child (a girl) in February. Best wishes from one GB patient to another, you have always been my inspiration.

- Kellie on

Congrats to Carnie Wilson and family!

- Julie on

conrats carnie and rob on their 2nd child! lola is gonna be a big sister with the new baby

- melanie falcon on

congrats to them! I hate that she will be naming the baby after her husband though. I don’t care what anyone says…it’s sexist.

- Rye on

I think it will be another girl. I also don’t think you should announce your preference on the gender because if the child finds out, they might feel like they weren’t wanted if they were the gender the parent wasn’t hoping for. Sorry Carnie, I just don’t think it’s right to say you want a boy when you could have a girl too.

- Morgan on

how is it sexist to name a child after yourself or your spouse? Lucille Ball did it as well as other well known people. It is fairly common imo

- Amy on

Amy- ITA! I also want to point out that women DO sometimes name their kids after themselves. It’s just not as common as naming a boy after his father.

Also, if Carnie’s okay with naming a boy after her husband, what’s sexiest about it?

All of that said, I personally am not a fan of “Jr.’s”, mainly because I think it must be confusing for the child (i.e., if both the father and the son are named Fred and you call out “Fred!”, how will they know which one of them you’re referring to).

Both my grandparents and my parents delt with that issue in the way I much prefer: My dad’s middle name is his father’s first name, and my brother’s middle name is my father’s first name.

I think that’s having the best of both world’s, as the child is still named after you in a way, but has his/her own first name, so there’s no confusion! :)

- CelebBabyLover on

Oh, and I hope that, if it DOES turn out she’s expecting twins, people won’t be shouting “Fertility treatments!” Carnie has already indicated that this pregnancy wasn’t the result of fertility treatments (by saying that her husband was surprised to learn of the pregnancy and that she took a pregnancy test. From what I’ve heard, when you have fertility treatments, you are scheduled for a blood test to check for pregnancy a few weeks after the treatment, and you are usually asked NOT to take a home pregnancy test).

Also, it sounds like twins run in her family, on her mother’s side (and it is the maternal side of the family that twins run on). That and the fact that she’s 40 (women that age have an increased chance of concieving twins naturally) makes me think that if she IS having twins, she concieved them naturally.

Finally, how do we know that celebs are having twins just because it’s the “in” thing to do? Some celebs (such as Angelina Jolie, who also seems like the absolute last person in Hollywood who would do something just because it’s the “in” thing.) have said that their twins were concieved naturally (while some of them may not be telling the truth, I do believe Angie as she is known for being nothing but open and honest in her interviews).

Several celebs with twins probably HAVE used fertilty treatments (some of them, including Marcia Cross and Geena Davis, have even come right out and said so!). However, if you step back and take a closer look, most of them made it clear before becoming pregnant that they were desperate to have a baby and/or had been trying to get pregnant for a long time.

Also, virtually all of those celeb twins seem to be very loved (i.e., it doesn’t seem like their parents were like “Oh, we had you because it’s the “in” thing to do, but we didn’t really want kids”)! :)

God Love You,Carnie.
Rejoice in this special time with your family. You all must be thrilled!

Congratulations to Carnie. I like to see stories about women in the early 40′s getting pregnant. I hope it turns out to be successful and that the baby dust can rub off on me. I’m 40 and have been trying for my 2nd baby.

I heard on TMZ that she lost the weight doing the YRG Workout with Diamond Dallas Page. Either way she looks Great!
