Like a Prayer: Madonna and David Attend Services

INF

Madonna gives 3-year-old son David a lift after attending Saturday morning services at The Kabbalah Centre in New York City.

Also in attendance: daughter Lourdes, 12, and son Rocco, 8 (not pictured). A source recently told PEOPLE that the singer — whose split with husband Guy Ritchie was announced recently — will likely relocate to the Big Apple.

when I read about their divorce (which honestly did not surprise me) I hoped Madonna would stay in England. No judgement on her,but I’m sure her children would benefit for the stability of staying in their school with the people they know after the divorce.I guess she needs space and new horizons, but poor kids,I feel for David particularly, the poor boy has been all over the place in less than ideal circumstances.

this whole situation is a joke. Madonna needs to step back and decide what is better for her kids.

David is so cute all dressed in white.

David is very cute. I feel bad for all the kids in this situation.

Question? Isn’t David older than 3 by now? He sure looks like it! Cute kid nonetheless.

I feel very sorry for Madonna’s kids. I think she is a self-centered person.

Apart of me understands why Madonna would want to move back to NY. On one hand, Madonna was born in the USA and her daughter’s father is in NY. On the other hand, Guy and his whole family is in the UK. This is a no win situation. I feel sorry for Guy to have settle for seeing his children every few weeks and part of the summer.

wow, tough break for the kids. im wondering the most about Rocco who was born and, for the most part, raised in the UK. his father is there. so how will that work with her moving back to the states? i just assumed she would continue living mainly in the UK for that reason, but I guess that’s not what she had in mind.

totally understand about “coming home” when something like this happens.. madonna will do what is best for the kids.. i have no doubt about that.. in all honesty I have seen more pictures of her with the kids.. then ever him, although that is just a minute in their life. My thoughts are with all of them during this difficult period.

Rocco was born in Los Angeles, not the UK. The family used to split their time between London and LA almost evenly when Lourdes and Rocco were younger, but moved to London for the whole school year about 2.5-3 years ago.

Nobody really knows for sure what is going on between Guy & Madonna, and how she feels about being away from friends and family in the US, a thing she “compromised” on because Guy preferred London. I’ll just wait and see what happens, before I jump on the accusatory bandwagon.

Many celebrity families travel a lot, in fact a whole lot more than Madonna & kids, and take their whole “clan” with them.

I believe it would be best for the kids to remain in England. It’s hard enough to deal with a divorce let alone a move to another country.

T- Actually, David just turned 3 last month!

Anyway, most people seem to be forgetting something important. Madonna’s moving back to NYC will actually bring Lourdes closer to her father (Carlos lives in NYC, if I’m not mistaken).

melissa, you’ve seen more pictures of her with the children because she is who the paps chiefly follow.

Right now, Madonna is on tour and she has the 3 children with her but once the tour is over the custody situation will have to be resolved. Madonna chose to marry and build her family with Guy in the UK but now that her marriage is over she wants to live in NY.
An earlier post mentioned how moving to NY will bring Lourdes closer to her father but it will also enlarge the distance between Rocco/David’s father. If Guy is in London and the boys are in NY how often do you think he will be able to see them. Like I said earlier, this is a no-win situation. One child is going to end up living away from his or her father and it just does not seem right.

I have to wonder if they were having problems when they were adopting David. Wasn’t it JUST recently that it was all finalized? Perhaps they thought that another child would help fix the marriage.

MommyX2- Actually, it sounds like Guy felt just the opposite! I was reading my copy of this week’s PEOPLE, and the cover story is their divorce. In the article, it says that Madonna and Guy actually fought over David, mainly because they WERE having problems then, and Guy thought it was a mistake to adopt a child given those circumstances.

He felt they should work on their marriage rather than adopt a child. Anyway, it also said in the article that, if Madonna choses to live in New York, she will likely get custody of the kids.

The courts in London don’t like splitting up kids (which would happen if Guy got custody, since Lourdes will obviously stay with Madonna no matter what), and British courts tend to favor the mother.
